The wife is visiting DC next week, her friend lives in Alexandria. Are there any Rumpkin or Greater Pumpkin still floating around?
I have not seen either. Plenty of Great Pumpkin at total wines but havent seen Greater. I know Norm's got Rumpkin two weeks ago but it was 1 bottle limit so that is probably gone. You can try calling Ricks or total wine in Alexandria. Those are your two best bets in that area.
I know this wasn't your question but BCBS is available in the DC area. Get her to try Whole Foods if your interested. As a former James Island Surfer myself I'm just trying to help out another.
Thats good too, I'll have her check those out. Are there any other local bottled beers out that I can't get down in SC? I like 'em hoppy and/or barrel aged.
Just found some Rumpkin at Total Wines in Fairfax. Barley noticed it in the seasonal section. Not sure if they just got it or it has been sitting around a couple weeks. I took 2 they had at least 5 or 6 left.
I just called them, my wife was going by. They had 4 left this morning, but now sold out. That sucks, we don't get that where I live. Guess I'll add it to my White Whale list.
Port City is quite proud of their Tidings (Christmas Ale) but I don't know how much effort your wife should invest in bringing it home. Perhaps she should swing by the brewery in Alexandria and do some firsthand reconnaissance for you? I do think there are still some Greater Pumpkins in limited quantity scattered about town. A friend tweeted/facebooked a visual a couple days ago and I'm pretty sure it was a recent acquisition. It is wonderful stuff.
