Hows this one aging? Got a bottle and never had it fresh, but saw some threads when I recieved the bottle(a several months ago) that said it was in a rough spot right now. Hows it drinking now?

I would like to know this too! I'm planning on opening one in September.

I opened one a few weeks ago and enjoyed it but thought the wood was a little strong. I was hoping for a little more sourness and was surprised actually how boozy it still was. I haven't tried a fresh bottle, so unfortunately nothing to compare it to though, of course ymmv.

I had one a month or two ago and it was going in a great direction.

From the most recent reviews, it sounds like it has more tartness in the nose rather than the taste. It also sounds like the barrel character stands out, and that it's drinking pretty compex.

So the questions is...drink it now or let it sit for longer?

Id age it longer. Even tho it's a different beer I had the 08 with 3 years on it and it was outstanding. 3 years on this one should be good too. The one I had a few months ago feels like I could get much better (hopefully)

What changes did you notice on the 2008 and the 2010 after a period of time? I'm interested in what actual changes and potential changes you're looking for. (If the second sentence sounds snarky, that's not my intention FYI)

I found the sourness to be spot on and well integrated with the rest of the brew. On that same note however I did have a 2008 that tasted like pond water last may. Smelled delicious tho

Was this a 2008 or a 2010 and when was it opened?

2008 June of 2011. So next summer I'm hoping my 2010 bottles will taste the same

I didn't find the '08 fresh and '10 fresh to really be the same beer at all. I don't expect them to age the same way either. '10 was much more brett forward and not in a good way. The alcohol stood out like a sore thumb. Probably from high attenuation. Follow that up with some band-aid aroma and it created a pretty dismal wild ale.

Yep, totally different beers IMO. Their alcohol isn't even close to the same. '08 at around 9% ABV, '10 at 10.5% ABV. Tasted way different out the gate. So for those thinking the '10 is going to be like the '08, I hope you're right, but it seems like grasping at straws to me.

A few months back we opened the 08 and 10 together. The general consensus was that neither was improving from fresh. The base beer of the 10 stood out much more than the 08 and had a fruitier character. The 08 was more tannic, dry, and earthy which was to be expected. Slight cardboard/oxidation flavors in the 08 as well.

If I had another 08 I may let it go even further because I don't think it's great right now. I don't know that age will improve it but it may not hurt it. I'd drink the 10 now.

Brew 33 do you have any tasting notes of the 2010 Dissident?

Anybody drink a bottle of 2010 recently?

Yeah I opened one about a month ago. It was great! Carbonation was still strong, nice and sour, and good fruit characteristics.
