Grey Monday is a special, limited edition version of our Black Tuesday imperial stout to which we've added hazelnuts to the barrels while the beer ages. Originally concocted for a molecular gastronomy dinner at a favorite Orange County restaurant a few years ago, this variation on a our already popular stout was an instant hit both among the restaurant diners and our own staff, begging to be brewed again and bottled up.

Rueuze is our take on the traditional Belgian-style blend of lambics of different ages. We carefully select a number of oak barrels from our warehouse that have been aging our sour blonde ale for anywhere from several months to several years and blend the beers together to what we find to be the ideal flavor. This is one complex beer. Notes of hay, barnyard funk, apricots and olives play wonderfully with the balanced acidity.

    $29.99 (before your discount)

Reserve Society 4 bottles, Hoarders Society 8 bottles

This beer will see limited release at our Tasting Room

Mélange #3 is a blend of three bourbon barrel aged strong ales. White Oak Sap, a wheat wine, our Anniversary Series old ale and our imperial Stout, Black Tuesday, join forces in this luxurious strong ale that links some of the best characteristics of each of the contributing beers. Chocolate, dark fruits, oaky vanilla and rich toffee-like character reach through the bourbon veneer for an intensely satisfying quaff.

Perhaps less White Oak Sap in an attempt to drown out the tartness...

Consider it's 16.8% this year, I'm assuming that means it's MUCH heavier on the BT than WC this year. I doubt it will negatively impact it much (if at all)

While I love M3, I have missed the BT influence which I felt was stronger in the first draft-only batch than any of the bottled versions, so I think this might be a good thing for me.

You sure that isn't because the first draft-only batch predated Black Tuesday?

Im not sure I get your question. Yes it was released on draft before BT was bottled, but it was still Black Tuesday in the blend. Basically what I was getting at is that there was more cocoa in that first blend than the bottled versions (at least as I remember, it has been quite some time).

My point is that 4 years ago in a tasting of a beer before you'd had the unblended version it's much more likely that it tasted more stout-ish until Black Tuesday became a thing that was available on its own.

I think I maybe kinda sorta get what you're getting at. Basically when I had the 2010 M3 I was like OMG where's all the BT that is so whaley now, I want moar BT cuz BT BT BT...(?)

Less about that then you were exposed to a more intense version of the thing you liked best about the original Melange. Therefore, returning to it in 2010, you found it to be very similar to BT, only sweeter, less cocoa-y, etc. I don't think this is unusual to YOU, I think this is exceedingly common. Variations include: wasn't this beer hoppier last year?

By they way, you could be entirely right, but there's so many variables involved that I think it's just far more likely that Melange #3 gave a very different impression its first go round. There was a short period where THAT was the highly sought after beer that was going to put The Bruery on the map. Then they came out with BT and everyone was like, oh, no, THIS is the thing I really want.
