Our traditional, unfiltered German-style pilsner, Summit Keller Pils, was hailed as the #2 Pilsner in the world in 2016 by Paste Magazine, so we’ve decided to go ahead and make it year-round beginning NOW. Brewed with traditional Tettnang hops and the modern German variety Huell Melon, Keller Pils offers spicy floral notes, balanced citrus bitterness, and malty-sweet and honey undertones from Weyermann Barke Pilsner Malt. Find it on draft and in 6-packs and 12-packs of 12-oz. cans.

AWESOME. The fact that a pils stood out as one of the better beers I had last year means I'm going to have this in constant supply.

Awesome! Hopefully I'll see the 12-packs in my area.

This is a great move by Summit and I'm excited to see this as a year-round offering. Put this and Dark Infusion in a mix pack and it's game over!

So Summit is doing 2 year round Pilsners now, Keller Pils & Dakota Soul. Has anyone done a side by side of these two beers? If so, what are your thoughts?

Is this common practice to introduce 2 beers of the same style (I see one is unfiltered & a variation of hops are used in ea. beer) at nearly the same time?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Summit beers & really look forward to trying both of these very soon. All the best to Summit, I hope you sell a shit ton of both!
    Cheers

I really liked Dakota Soul. Its a bit breadier than a typical pilsner malt, but I liked it a lot.

Sweet, that's actually how I prefer my pilsners. I will definitely have to give it a shot.

Hey Barry. Your question inspired a blog on the Summit website. Hope you'll check it out and keep enjoying our beers — and thanks for being curious! http://www.summitbrewing.com/two-pilsners-thats-bonkers/

Thanks for the response and the BA call out.

FYI - The side-by-side comparison graphic is blurry. The two pictures are sharp as a tack, so I don't think its a problem on my end.

The side-by-side graphic is blurry on my desktop computer too. The other pictures are good.

    Much better!

I was just in St. Paul last week, but had to leave Thursday morning and couldn't visit. That's the problem sometimes with business travel, I rarely stay Thursday nights and some taps rooms are only open late in the week and the weekend.

When I have a layover at the airport next month hopefully I can find both of these pilsners.

Should be available at just about any liquor store in the cities.

Wow, I've been called a lot of things in my day (mostly by haters:wink:), but never inspirational. Thanks for the great explanation of the two Pilsners on your blog!

At the moment I am out of the country & have not had a chance to try either beer. A MN bottle shop visit & purchase of the two Pils styles will be first on my "to-do" list when I get to MN in May.

Thanks again for the informative response. Cheers

You're welcome, Barry. Make sure to tell us what you think of the beers after you've tracked them down, and enjoy your travels. Hope there's good beer.

Don't do it Barry, they'll screenshot your reviews and mail them to your 3rd grade teacher. It's a trap!
