Is anyone excited for this? Is it even on anybody's radar? What do you want from a beer week? Would you hit it almost every night? These weeks are legendary in towns all over the place but North Texas???? Craft beer is blowing up on Dallas but as much you like it.....could you convince all of your friends to come to the coolest party in town wherever that may be.....because it was about craft beer?? Does it give you tired head trying to keep up??? Or are you just going to go to your favorite bar regardless of what is happenIng and hope they have something you want. I believe this year could different from the last installments. Did you even know this has been attempted the last two years???? Lots of question marks but i real coming at this with positivity. Yes, I am in the industry.
We know you Matt. It's just for whatever reason DBW doesn't get discussed here. Maybe because it's all over facebook? Maybe because the people who ran it the past 2 years came in this forum and pissed people off? I'm happy people from Dallas are running it this year. Last year was pathetic, the little bit of attention I gave to it. I plan on going to a couple of events this year, unfortunately I won't be in town for Brewvolution.
I've checked out the website this year, and it would be nice to be able to export events to my calendar. I already do this with Facebook events. I will probably pick and choose things I attend, and maybe I will go to a few things with people I know on BA. That being said, as a craft beer enthusiast, it gets a little annoying when I am seeing postings about NTX beer week from almost every beer bar at the same time. I understand that the metrics you get as a page owner are nice on Facebook, but I don't need every bar/brewery/sponsor telling me to like the page multiple times a week. I'm looking forward to a fun NTX beer week, and good luck.
Yikes. So the current posting of businesses talking about NTX Beer Week is bugging ya? I don't think that any of us on the NTXBW board intended that, and to be honest, we have no real control over what businesses choose to promote. I suspect that they're all individually reaching multiple audiences though that don't always overlap, so the exposure to craft beer is good. Sorry to hear about the negative feedback, but I'm not sure how the Beer Week could help to prevent this either. If you have ideas, I will make sure they get heard. As far as exporting the calendar, that's a great idea. I will propose this for next year's beer week! Cheers, Chad
I'm going to a couple events during the week. I'm not as excited about it as I thought it would be about the week as a whole. Lots of events seem underwhelming and overall it looks like it's just a handful of places involved. I don't know if those were the only places asked to plan events or if they were the only ones willing to get involved.
I wouldn't go that far, and as you mentioned, I would think this audience is much more in tune with what is going on during the week than the average patron. I think it is probably just that we are exposed to the coverage from almost every angle, whether it be from organizers, brewers, bars, and/or friends. I literally have an interest feed on Facebook called "beer," and it is a feed of most of the local beer bars, breweries, and stores that post. So, the amount of posts can be overwhelming at times. Like I said, I am hoping it is a fun beer week, no matter the number of posts or mentions I hear about it. I would rather have access to as much information about it as possible. I would hate to hear about an event I would have enjoyed attending after the fact.
We solicited a lot of places. Some of them even asked us to plan their events, but of course we don't have the time or resources to plan events for them. I'm certain the beer festival the me, Nellie and Corey are planning (the only event I'm in control of), will kick things off right though. Beer list coming tomorrow.
I'm excited about beer week. I'll be at brewvolution and probably 2-3 other events, id like to do more but it would kill my chances in the biggest loser bif im working hard at
I'm glad to hear this year is being better received by most of you - we've worked really hard to fix some of the mistakes our predecessors made. Is it perfect? Not even close. But we feel like it's a drastic improvement and hope everyone enjoys the fun!
Also, since no one posted: http://ntxbeerweek.com/ Excited about the Lonestar tasting, Merkin release, and getting some Wintervention! (sorry, Chad, but I can't make it to Brewvolution b/c of a scheduling conflict). Cheers all!
No hard feelings John, I understand people won't always be able to make our events. Hope to see you at Big Texas Beer Fest, April 5, 2014 though!
