So I had NN on draft and bottle, and it was awesome! To me, it tasted better this year than last year, and this year I found it to be more balanced and more complex...last year the batch I had was more bitter and not very complex, and this year it hit my taste buds in this manner: malt/hops/then quickly finishes out with malt again...love it!

May have been an old keg. I would give it another draft sampling, or better yet, buy a bottle with a fresh date on it. Don't give up on it after just one sampling; you never know where that keg has been, or how old it is.

As was already posted by @Kadonny: I saw the kegs yesterday, they are dated 12/6 :grimacing:, what's up with that? 2 months old already? Come on Troegs, if you bottle and keg them that early, then sell them that early damn it.

So, why is Troegs selling kegs that are so old?

    Cheers!

Prolly the same reason Victory waited to put out Hop Ranch, I had some nice bottles in December of the ranch but the January ones were straight killer. I have a keg dated 12/2 of Nugget Nectar(could be the second or the twenty ninth) Remarkable taste and hop profile from the keg imo.

My keg was also dated the first week of December.
    I was worried at first.
    Had some last weekend.
The taste was eveything I had hoped for.

It's crazy that Troeg's is selling Nugget Nectar out the door for $45 when I got it for $40 outside of Pittsburgh!!! I'm glad I got it that cheap!

They aren't going to undercut their distributors, so I'm guessing $45 is the price they figured was fair in that sense. I'm guessing $40 is the exception rather than the rule anyway.

I paid I think 45.99 + tax at a distro in Harrisburg....40 seems way low, and I agree on them not wanting to undercut distros. Then again, it probably has something to do with the three-tier law.

Cracked a couple yesterday. Really, really good. As good as last year, if not better, and last year's was clearly better than the 2012 version. So there.

Not if they do quality control. Bad batches are unacceptable.

^out of curiosity what did the cases run you? Also were the bottled on dates both 1/27/14 or freshest by 5/27/14? Thanks

Mine came off of the truck two hours before I came across it, so it is at pretty much the perfect temp right now! Can't wait to pop one.

I was staying at the Sutter in Lititz last week, and the pub downstairs just happened to have this on cask the night I got into town. Now that's what I call beer karma.
