Tom, I picked up my case of Nugget Nectar last Thursday; it was also the 12/29/14 batch. I drank one Thursday night and it was very tasty!!

I always look forward to the release of Nugget Nectar!!

    Cheers!

P.S. I agree 100% with the 2-6 week window for bottles. I wonder if the canned version might have a broader window?

I had a pint at the bar last night. It was great. I'll be looking for cans this week.

You have more willpower than me. I was contemplating awaiting the release of the cans to buy my case of Nugget Nectar but I simply did not have the fortitude to be patient for my Nugget Nectar fix.

I was even tempted to bring a bottle opener with me when I went to my local beer distributor last Thursday and drink a bottle from the case right there!!

    Cheers!

While it isn't easy, having some on tap has helped hold me over. I think I'll visit the brewery this week. NN seems like a good excuse to go, not that I really need a reason to visit Troegs.

Well if you'd like a good additional reason to go, there's always those new Scratch beers that deserve an objective visitor to evaluate and possibly even adopt a six pack, etc. to ensure its given a good home.... Its sort of your responsibility to the community, right?

The Scratch series is the main reason I go every couple of months. Always something new to try.

I was sort of gambling that if I started on my case of bottles right away, but the time the cans are hitting about 2 weeks, it would be time to adopt and give a good home to a case of them as well. :-)

Tom, I sort of was thinking the same thing. As I was paying for my case of Nugget Nectar I asked my beer guy:
    • When will you be getting the cans? He replied: next week
    • Do you think you will still have the cans in inventory a couple of weeks from now? He just shrugged his shoulders.
    Whatever will be, will be!?!

    Cheers!

    Jack,

Since word on the street has it that Founders is not bottling Red's Rye this year, I figure on getting the case of cans when I find them and then letting them sit in the basement while I work on the bottles. (Most of the rest of whats in my basement at the moment are things like stouts, Saisons, and Gueuzes where they can stand to wait for their more temperamental colleagues to be tended to.)

Also figured this would be a good opportunity (read that excuse) to do some side-by-side of different "containerzed" dates.

I like the way you think.

Can you ever have enough Nugget Nectar? Plus, I have suspicion that the drinking window for the canned Nugget Nectar is broader.

    Cheers!

My suspicion exactly based on last summer's experience with the Sunshine Pils cans.

For those in NEPA, Nugget Nectar will be in Dickson City Wegmans tomorrow and the rest of Scranton over the week., and into the Wilkes-Barre area on Friday. Wayne County/Pike, for those who live there, on Wednesday and Stroudsburg is Thursday.

I'm guessing this means the Sunshine Pils cans lasted quite a bit longer in terms of freshness than the bottles? I've been holding off on picking up any NN because I want the cans (hopefully I don't strike out on getting a case from the brewery tomorrow after I get off work nearby at 7pm)

I'd love to be drinking NN cans in March/April. I hope they hold up.

That was the general feeling I had while finishing them. There was one unanticipated period of travel for a couple of weeks and so I had several cans around a couple of weeks longer than originally planned. At that time finishing them seemed to me they were fresher than I had anticipated when I got back from the trip. So I do have that sense of longer shelf life for that beer in a can. That’s part of the reason I'm thinking I'll get a case of cans of NN. At least one case of bottled NN has been an annual event for several years now so I've a good sense of when the "sweet spot" for me is. So I'll try it with cans this year and see what happens to the "sweet spot."
