I was wondering if anyone knew how long you can keep a Nugget Nectar around before the hops start to mellow?

    Thanks.

My experience has been after 3-4 weeks it drops off significantly

but seriously, Im still drinking it and it tastes the same still. I wouldnt know since it doesnt last more than a week or two.

Ask the Ol Bag Of Nails in Mansfield, OH. They have 3 kegs and told me that they just cant sell it.

Hops start to fade rather quickly....

However, I find the beer to become awesome after like a month as the increased malt balances the hops nicely.

Still drinking fine bottle on 3/13 without really any significant loss, in my opinion.

I'm not sure of Nugget Nectar in particular because I drank mine pretty quickly, but my experience is when I keep my hoppy beers in my fridge at 35 degrees and I drink it several weeks later I almost never see a drop off in taste. I just dug out a Union Jack that could very well have been in my fridge for 2 months and it tasted just like I remember, delicious

I think it holds up for quite some time. It isn't actually an IPA, its not a "hop bomb," and has a solid malt balance. Good to go for several more weeks I would imagine, might slowly diminish the hop presence but will still be rather good until probably may.

agreed. the hop presence sticks around for a while, but the profile changes pretty quickly (and not for the better) after around a month.

Drinking a glass of NN bottled 2/23/12 right now and I don't notice much of a difference from the first bottle I had on 2/26. Still very tasty IMO. There might be a slight loss in the punch. Nothing significant though.

thanks guys. I am working out a trade to send a 6-pack somewhere and don't want to send a beer that is past its prime.

I believe the best buy date on the Nugget Nectar that came out in March is some time in June. As long as the trade goes through soon you shouldn't have any problems. I still have half a case of my NN in the cellar becuase there is just so much other good stuff in the fridge right now.

I have a case of the 3/13. It is now basically one month old and I am starting to notice the hop fade. It is not a drastic fade but I am starting to notice it. It is still a tasty beer; just a little bit more ‘balanced’.

    Cheers!

P.S. As a FYI I store the bulk of the beer in my basement. If you store the beer refrigerated (e.g., 40°F) this will significantly delay the hop fade.
