Last year I made an amber ale that was probably one of the best I have ever done. I wanted to re-create that malt bill but change up the hop bill. Last years version was bittered with Nugget and later additions of Centennial and Willamette.

A few weeks ago I had the Green Flash Imperial IPA which I enjoyed which has that hop combo, so decided to try it. The malt bill is exactly the same as previous batch except addition of golden promise malt amount due to increased efficiency since last time.

Let me know what you think. Recipe calculated for 6 gallons and 72% efficiency.

    Calcs per Beersmith:

    OG: 1.057
    FG: 1.014
    ABV: 5.6%
    IBUs: 44

    Mash @ 152 for 60 Minutes

    7.5# Golden Promise
    2 # Munich Malt
    1.75# Victory Malt
    1# Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L
    .5# Brown Malt
    .25# Roasted Barley

    .50 oz Nugget [13.00 %] - 60 min
    .50 oz Nugget [13.00 %] - 10 min Hop
    1 oz Summit [17.00 %] - 5 min Hop
    .50 oz Summit [17.00 %] - 5 min Hop
    1 oz Nugget [13.00 %] - 2 min Hop
    .50 oz Summit [17.00 %] - 2 min Hop

Dry hop with 1 oz each of Summit and Nugget for 5 days

    Safale English Ale S-04

    thanks,

Iv'e never used either, but I say you'll never know till you give it a try.

BTW, I think I'd use some other yeast. In my experience, S-04 is best with dark beers; I do not like it for pale beers, but maybe your experience is different. If you want an English ale yeast, I suggest Ringwood. You must do a diactyl rest, but it is good for both pale ales and IPAs. Cheers!
