DC is the Wild West in rules, regulations, well, and everything. The beer and wine business in DC is truly crazy. Some fool(s) will pay that price. And it's tough to follow the money.

$7.99 for a 4-pack right now in my area... worth every penny.

I love drinking beer, but I'm on the proverbial pensioners allowance, AKA Social Security. Gotta check the pricing. Never buy bombers, always 6'ers or more. Still, Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Wild for $10.29 per 6 (East Coast pricing) cannot be passed up. But the locally brewed Brewmaster Jack bomber for $7.25, honestly, my curiosity must go unsatisfied.

He's a manager and doesn't know he has a bomber of beer for $5?

i could see bars marking up beers like that , dont they make 4-500% on bud? why not on pliny? Most outrageous price ive paid was $55 for a bourbon county coffee. It was my first time having a bourbon county and it was worth it. But id pay a huge markup for something I have a hard time finding. At that time , i didn't know about trading, wow i'd never pay that price again.

West Dupont Circle Wine and Liquors. I've seen it there before, once. I think it was $25 then.

Put it in context. A 4 pack of Rochefort 10 is $28 (#19 on BA) and a 4 pack of Founders BS is $12 (#17 on BA).

Compare that to a mediocre bottle of wine at $15 vs a "great" wine at $100 a pop.

$5 is kind of a ripoff. For another $5-$6 you could've bought a six pack and almost tripled your volume.

I'll price around stuff I think I may be able to find elsewhere, but damn if I won't rip out the credit card for something I've been hunting or can't reasonably trade for. That being said, $30 Pliny is a joke.

Yep and often I'm amazed at how some don't see the context relative to other beverages and appreciate how affordable craft beer is.

I get a similar reaction from my wife when buying $15-20 750's, but she doesn't blink when coercing me into expensive dinners that still leave me hungry and craving Whataburger on the drive home. :grinning:

Lag 16 is one of my favorites, and I usually pick up a couple bottles when they go on sale for $65.

I'm definitely not numb to the pricing, but it's interesting when I remember that years ago I was hesitant to pay certain amounts that now I don't even bat an eyelash at. But like some have said, I've come to see that compared to other beverages, even some soft drinks!, most craft beers are reasonably priced for the product. It also helps that I make more money than I did years ago, so the price is less of a sting.

Too bad you aren't around Peoria Illinois. Four packs sit around for a long time. Last time I bought it I paid 8.99 for a four pack.

$4.99 for a bomber of quality beer like that is cheap in my book.
