Has anyone ever noticed that there are raised numbers on the glass near the bottom of all of the bottles here? Do any of you know what these numbers mean? I imagine that they correspond to something like the thickness of the glass or where or when it was made. I've amassed a pretty large collection of bottles for my homebrew and I've noticed that, while they all basically seem the same at first, some bottles are actually sturdier than others. I wonder how this works when the bottles are reused. Do certain breweries accept only certain grades of glass? How do they know when the bottle is too old to be used again?
Whops, I just noticed that this would have fit into the discussion going on about bottle sorting going on in another thread. I would delete this and move it over there, but I guess it's too late for that now.
