Any of this out there? What are some good examples of what it would take to pull one in?

Based on couple ISO:FT I've seen its trading pretty high. It sounds awesome but I have no idea what to offer. All pre trades of course

It's gonna be hard to judge the trade value of this beer until it actually gets sold, but it seems to be pretty high, considering Chicago decided to laugh at an offer of DBH 1:1.

I was thinking of making this offer with the hope of throwing in more HF bottles for some Bourbon County bottles.

You could have just had crickets based on the fact that it was a pre-trade. You could just as easily see the reverse offer the day it is released and a BA has it in hand.

    Pre-trades never tell the tale...

I would assume it's going to be pretty high given 1) the low bottle count/brewpub-only status, and 2) how highly thought of Nutulhu is among those that have had it. I've been to multiple events where it's been there, and it kicks about as quickly as possible. At Goose Island Clybourn's anniversary party this past year, it kicked at least as quickly as the BCBS variants on tap (and we're talking Prop '13 among others).

With that being said, I don't think DBH is an awful trade, straight-up. But people on BA tend to see all trades as black and white (i.e. "this beer's bottle count was lower, and price was higher, so it's not a fair trade.")

So, to those of you who have tried it... what is driving the trade value higher in your opinion? The limited availability or the awesomeness of the beer itself? I remember trading pretty big for Cthulhu and while it was a very good, solid beer, it did not leave me with a wow. If this nothing more than Cthulhu with some added hazelnut flavors, I would think that a beer like Grey Monday would blow it out of the water while being easier to acquire.

It's gotta be the bottle count...can't see any way this is better than DBH...but I guess I'll never know until I try it

FWIW it's toasted hazelnut and vanilla beans is what I've heard.

Just opened a bottle tonight and it was fantastic. I thought the balance was great, subtle vanilla and hazelnut that worked perfectly together. It's definitely different than Grey Monday as the hazelnut is much less pronounced. As far as the vanilla, it's what I hope the Vanilla Rye transforms into with 12-24 months. I like the Vanilla rye, but I think time is only going to help it.

I've got another and will likely trade it as I want to land some other great beers on my list.

I would like to hear what others have to say.

Had it at the Black Friday tasting and it was good but it didn't blow me away. I wouldn't line up and wait hours for it, not to mention the $34 tag. I too enjoyed Cthulhu but I believe what's driving the hype is the fact that it's Goose Island....even though this is pub release, not the brewery itself. Plus coming right on the heels of Prop and Vanilla landing (and we've all seen what they're trading for) Goose wanted to strike while the iron was hot.

I would say I can't believe what it's commanding right now (BA Abraxas+, multiple Prop, etc.), but nothing really surprises me anymore. I realize some will like it more than I did (good, not great imo), but I think it's completely out of whack.

It's released at Clybourn only, limit one, better round up the first born and a pile of gold for the Chicago land traders.
