I'm going to be in Northwest Florida from tomorrow until Monday, visiting a friend, specifically in the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area. What should I seek out here? Does Cigar City or Funky Buddha make it up that way? What beers should I be looking for. Any bottle shops you can recommend would be great also! Share the Florida Love

Chan's Wine World in Destin will be your best bet for bottles, especially CCB. I've been told that store is the largest CCB account in the Panhandle area. Attached to the store is the Craft Beer Bar. They tend to have some pretty interesting stuff on draught and their food menu looks pretty good as well. As for bottles, you'll probably see more of the common SE offerings such as Terrapin, Sweetwater, Swamp Head, Red Brick, Straight to Ale, and Lazy Magnolia. Since you're from New Hampshire, you'll be able to find some commonly nationwide distributed stuff from Ballast Point, New Belgium, and Evil Twin to name a few.

@will_eye_e Thanks! Will def check it out. What about fathead, prairie, crooked stave, jester king? Heard rumor these make it to Florida. We already get Ballast Point & Evil Twin up our way. As for CCB, any chance of landing their stouts this time of year?

@dbkdev I don't think you will see Marshal Zhukov on the shelf at this point in the year. It is possible but very unlikely. That is their only annual stout that hits distro.

I think you might have a chance to score BA Big Sound though. That one is still sitting on shelves in our area. Prairie, CS, and JK are in Florida, but not in NWFL that I know of. You can probably find some Head Hunter in Destin, but it won't be super fresh.

boo :slight_frown: I'm building a beer cellar, looking for stuff to bring back for it. I'll enjoy the jai alai etc while i'm down there, but looking for stuff that could age for bringing back.

Might be worth setting up a In Person trade post to see if you can bring some fresh local stuff with you in an attempt to score some solid cellar worthy brews to take home.

I would be up for an IP trade, but I don't have anything cellar worthy :slight_frown:

But you might be surprised in what you find.

Not gonna be able to do an IP trade :slight_frown: unfortunately. Probably something I should have considered ahead of time since I have access to great stuff here.

Obviously it's too late, but Chan's Wine World in Destin had a case of Terrapoin Moo-HooChiato and their bar has a keg. Bottles are gone but the keg is still there. That place definitely delivers better than some of the places in our area.

So I had the moohoociato on draft. Was a great beer! Struck out on the other fronts though, other than some jai alai that didn't taste too fresh.
