A place out east currently has a brand new keg of Nugget Nectar for sale on tap. Knowing that this beer comes out in February, is this is a) an old keg or, as I'm supposed to believe per the store owner, b) that "the kegs come out before the bottles"?
Personally I'd take that with a grain of salt. (A very big grain.) As you say, the Release is Feburary. Kegs may indeed come out first but it seems like this is way too early even for that (3 mos.???). The guy might be telling the truth as he understands it if he just got the keg from the distributor. That said, best bet is to check with the brewery. They have contact information on their web site.
That was the first thing I did -- no one picked up there, so I figured to ask on BA to see if anyone had any inside knowledge. I'll keep trying the brewery, though, that seems like the only guaranteed way. Thanks!
Buy a pint. Then you can either A) exclaim I KNEW IT! and storm out of the bar, or B) spend all your money on more pints.
It's an old keg. I work for a Troegs distributor and we won't be getting Nugget Nectar until next year. Kegs also don't always come out first. We got almost 1800 cases of Mad Elf in now and haven't received any draft yet. Contact Troegs though. They won't be happy that their distributor is selling old kegs.
I would order a pint, take a huge sip and claim it is shit. Walk out and pay nothing. Seems about right? no?
Huge help, thank you. And I finally got through and they confirmed that it is an old keg from earlier this year. In fact, the 2015 batch of Nugget Nectar hasn't even been brewed yet.
NN was on the ground (@ the brewery) the first week of January last year. I'd anticipate the same time frame this year. Drag some d-bag's trying to cash in. Friggin patzer's! Holy shit D-weed, let us enjoy the Wet\Fresh hop season!
