I am coming in for a cruise and have never been to NYC - I am staying at the Westin Times Sq and have maybe a combined total of 2 days and need some advice on where is not to be missed. It would be great to send back bottles, but more-so I'd just like to have some nice east coast ticks and check out what the NY beer scene has to offer. Also maybe there would be time for 1 in-person trade if it is something I can't live without! So if there was just 1 place to hit, where would it be?!!?

You're close enough where I'd just wait it out til you get here to decide which bar to go to. I couldn't say one place is must hit over any other as the taps change over so frequently. Check beermenus.com and gingerman-ny.com when you get here

For bars I would go to the Ginger Man (on 36th) or Rattle N Hum (on 33rd). For bottles you can go to any of the Whole Foods. The best Whole Foods is on Houston and if you are down that way, check out New Beer Distributors (on Chrystie) right around the corner from WF. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is also Pony Bar in Hells Kitchen. But I agree with above posters - check their menus online when you get there. Also, I was majorly disappointed in the Whole Foods at Columbus Circle - real let down and wouldn't even bother. The one on Houston was super though.

I'd add the Blind Tiger to your watch list, here is what they had as of yesterday, http://www.blindtigeralehouse.com/draught-list/ If you are looking to take some cans on a cruise, I took one out of Port Liberty in June, I'd find some Sixpoint Resin cans, they are lightweight, good, and high in abv, bang for your buck.

Agree with GoGators, you have to hit up New Beer Distributors.

FYI Hallo Berlin has glass boots 3pint and 5pint. Not on the menu, have to ask for them. Pony bar is good but selection always changing. Blind tiger is great and has some rarer stuff on draft
