Getting together with some friends in NYC's Hell's Kitchen area this weekend and seeking out a solid taproom. Any recommendations from you kind folks?

Definitely The Pony Bar, 45th and 10th. Good beer and good prices for NYC.

If you're looking for some food too Brickyard is top notch, they have an amazing food menu and a solid tap list

    Fixed that for ya!

In all seriousness, both are great places, but I think Pony edges Beer Authority out in the food and price category. Beer Authority has like four times as many taps (Pony has 22 including cask), but I tend to find more specialties and rarities at the Pony.

Pony is a hole in the wall, smelly place that you can never get a seat at

Pony Bar is definitely the spot. Beer Authority has been a pretty big disappointment for me. Was super pysched for them because I pass them everyday for work but the vibe is pretty chain-like and sports bar-ish. Yes there is space and you can get a table and Pony Bar is small and usually crowded. But Beer Authority has a huge taplist and there's rarely anything unique or rare on it. Tonight at Pony Bar they are having their PA tap takeover with 2 Troeg's scratch beers, a Victory ranch series IPA, and Palate Wrecker on cask. Beer Authority has...damn I take this back. Pretty good all of a sudden, I should shut up and get over there. Check it out:

    Oak Aged Sculpin on cask
    Brandy Barrel Navigator
Founders Imperial Stout, Cerise, Dirty Bastard

    Things look like they're improving.

+1 for Pony Bar. Not a big place, but great draft list and good food. Highly recommended.
