Although I live in NJ now I lived in Manhattan for 32 years and still come in everyday for work so I'm not exactly in need of assistance....but....am kicking around a bit of a beer crawl this weekend and would love to hear some of your favorite spots, particularly walkable to each other. I'm thinking brooklyn or lower east side/east village. Have done the midtown circuit a bunch already and would like to try some new spots. Been to other half and would like a cool place to hang and sit and have a conversation and I haven't found that to be possible at OH on a Saturday afternoon. Plus the last time I did this with the small group I'll be with we did OH and Threes as our main destinations.

If you were going to go to 4-6 beer destinations in Brooklyn, the lower east side, or elsewhere in town where would they be? Experienced serious craft drinkers in the group so priority is a great tap list and then a great, comfortable place to hang out.

In LES I'd prioritize hitting up Fool's Gold and Top Hops. Fool's Gold always has a stellar tap list -- good stuff from out of town, and excellent beers from local breweries. Top Hops also has a good tap list at any given time but their bottle selection is killer and a bit more economical. With Brooklyn you're obviously going to have to nail down an area to stay in if you want to keep it within walking distance since it's so expansive.

Can't go wrong with Park Slope/Gowanus area. Other Half, Threes, and the new spot Strong Rope. Not to mention the bars Owl Farm, Mission Dolores, The Gate, 4th Ave Pub, St Gambrinus. And if you end this adventure by Owl Farm or Other Half you could jump on the F and be at Fools Gold in 15 minutes.

Agree with @thepenguin in that you can do Fool's Gold and Top Hops although I've pretty much given up on Top Hops. Never impressed by the taplist there. What I like to do is hit Good Beer and/or Proletariat and then walk south (you could even hit Barcade, good beer + arcade games would be fun for a group). You can dip in at Jimmy's #43 and Cooper's to see if there's anything worthwhile to drink as you walk down to Fool's Gold. From Fool's Gold you can continue down to One Mile House.

In BK, I've started at Other Half, walked to Owl Farm, then north to Mission Dolores and Threes and end at St. Gambrinus. Most recent visit I started at Bar Great Harry and then on to OH and followed the above.

Another ambitious crawl I did was starting at Singlecut, cabbing to Big Alice, walking to Rockaway, then on to Alewife and a quick visit to Transmitter (since they only do samples, or at least when I visited) and then you can even cross the bridge and land near Torst and Brouwerij Lane.

Which is another trek I've done. You can start at Brouwerij Lane, head to Dirck the Norseman and then Torst and then, if you've never been, go to Brooklyn Brewery (only cuz you're there, otherwise I'd skip it).

I would add alphabet City beer to the LES walk described above.

I would add Strong Rope to the BK walk. The beer isn't mindblowing, but it's a cool place.

LIC is a great beer trip. Check out Transmitter, open a bottle there. Go to Alewife, Rockaway, Big Alice, and end at LIC.

Another great beer trip is dinner at Lupulo followed by drinking at Rattle N Hum West, Beer Culture, Pony Bar HK, As is.

Ginger man and Rattle N Hum are also nearby Lupulo and excellent starting points to the above mentioned trip.

Lupulo is a wildly underrated NYC beer destination. Check out that tap list: https://www.beermenus.com/places/20746-lupulo

I agree about Alphabet City but don't often recommend it because it's quite far off from the others. I feel like you can either head south toward Fool's Gold and OMH or east ACBC, but doing both is a bit much.

One other thing worth mentioning is that instead of starting at Proletariat or Good Beer, one could start at Milk & Hops on 10th and continue to GB and Proletariat et al.

That's fair, it is a bit far, but it does take you into a great restaurant scene.

Bobwhite right next to ACBC was pretty tasty.

Lupulo is a really great place. The food is awesome.

I'd add Haymaker to the bar crawl since it's up the block from Lupulo, and the tap list is pretty solid. That circuit does cover a lot of ground, though.

This is all Brooklyn... Carroll Gardens/Gowanus - Three of my faves are Owl Farm, Bar Great Harry, and Mission Dolores - all three are sister bars. Their other sister bars (Glorietta Baldy and Cardiff Giant) are a bit further. Three's Brewing is close as well. St. Gambrinus, 4th Avenue Pub, Uncle Barry's and Pacific Standard are pretty close by. Can also check out Union Hall. In South Slope, you can check out Supercollider, Sea Witch, and Double Windsor. Prospect Heights/Bed Stuy border - Berg'n, Hops Hill, Covenhoven, and Gold Star Beer Counter.

if you do the LES version of a crawl don't forget DBGB as a stop, very solid list good and easy to snack on sausages and and other beer friendly fare that fits between a couple stops nicely.

Okay, our crawl is taking shape and also changing parameters a bit. I really appreciate the input you've all shared so far. Our group has kind of morphed a bit away from only hardcore beer geeks to a mixed group of enthusiasts - no one who is good beer averse - but the day will be less focused solely on quality tap lists (to my disappointment but oh well). It should still be a fairly small group, maybe 4-6 or 7 at the very biggest, and everyone won't be with us the whole time.

Anyway we've decided on LES and are looking at:

    One Mile House
    Fool's Gold
    Proletariat
Possibly Good Beer and then Jimmy's no. 43
Barcade (people should be good and drunk and rowdy by then and we'll turn them loose on some video games)

Are there any spots between Fool's Gold and Proletariat that I'm missing though? Would like to plug another destination in there. Also anyone want to chime in with your favorite places to grab a bite to go? I still love Bereket for a Lamachun, and people are also clamoring for spicy chicken sandwiches from Fuku. We won't be looking for a sitdown dinner, more take out or super casual. There are a few young women who will join in who while charming and easy on the eyes have a history of getting boisterously inebriated. They probably won't care what J Wakefield kegs are on and so forth.

    Thanks again folks!

I really like Red Hook Lobster Pound if you want to splurge on that and they can handle a boisterous group I think.

You can try d.b.a on 1st ave.

And FYI Bereket is closed and becoming a condo.

I don't live in New York, but I did almost your exact crawl one evening while visiting last summer, with the omission of Barcade and addition of Milk and Hops. We went off the rails a bit by wandering into PDT and having mixed drinks, then finished at Burp Castle, with the bizarre shushing, and McSorley's, drinking beer that tasted like Coke with the many Chinese tourists. It was a pretty good evening.
