Had Barrier's first bottling of Zythosaurus the other day at Astoria Bier and Cheese (also snagged a bottle from Beer Boutique earlier today) and wow, I think this might be the best beer to come out of the area! A super unique take on an imperial IPA/pale. A really solid malt backbone, tons of juicy mango and starfruit, and all very drinkable at 10%. I genuinely think that this beer could be one that could blow up if word gets out.

    Anyone else had it/any thoughts?

I have a half pound of Zythos I cannot wait to use after trying it in a friend's beer. Barrier's IPA I had at TAP was fantastically well crafted, those guys have talent for sure. Wish we got distro up here, but we get Rushing Duck and Peekskill so I can't complain haha.

Very interested to try this, anyone seen it at any Brooklyn bottle shops?

Haven't looked around Brooklyn, but bottles were available at Good Beer.

"Well suited for cellaring and aging."

    No.

Yeah I dont get the wax and "cellaring" statement, but I did enjoy this beer. I found it at Beer Street earlier this week. Seems to be around the city in good quantity.

I enjoyed this beer, I liked Submersion better though, these seems like a Imperial Amber to me over a Imperial IPA... split a case with a buddy so still have 5 left.

For now, they just have waxed both their releases (and their next release) I think they like the look of it.

They do seem very confident the malt character will really develop (and hops will fade of course) so they are sort of encouraging it to be aged, not sure I agree, but I am sure I will have at least one bottle still in my fridge after a few months so I will see what happens to it.

Really looking forward to their next release, Morticia.

If anyone knows where I can find a bottle or two around Brooklyn or Manhattan, please let me know.

Morticia wont be released until 5/10 at the brewery, so I assume Zytho...

Let me know if you can't find any by next week.

Zytho. Meant to pick up a few bottles at the brewery during release but had to travel out of town and missed it.

Pretty sure Good Beer should still have some bottles of it.

I described it to a friend as "a really good beer, not a really good DIPA"

How much was it there? They tend to jack up prices
