Taking the subway from the Finback/Threes to Grimm/ET would be a pain in the ass. Ubers can be pretty pricey these days, but Grimm is more than worth a detour and if you want heavily fruited/smoothie sours ETNYC is the best in the city.

I live in Portsmouth and only about 10 minutes from Definitive Brewing so it’s hard to not want to try another smoothie sour spot. Definitive is our local sour smoothie bar. Some solid hop game too
What would be the difference between Evil Twin NYC and Evil Twin Brooklyn by the river?

Same beer at both, the DUMBO location (by the river) is way more central to other interesting stuff and more or less on the way back into Manhattan.

30 responses down and I’ll admit, I don’t know a fucking thing about NYC. We’re a couple of beach seaside bums.

Stoked to visit though! If anyone somehow bumps into us we’ll buy you a beer.

    So our loose plan.

Saturday night either Jeffrey or if in very late some dive next to us. Staying a Citadine W but Roc.

Sunday up early for coffee and food. Grab train down to 9/11 memorial for 9:30 and opens at 10. This is important for both of us and our priority.

Train from there over to Other Half center st.

Uber up to Threes, finback, strong rope, Wild East.

Train or Uber from three’s area to Evil Twin.

if nothing else to see by Evil Twin then walk across the Brooklyn bridge back to Manhattan and figure out some stuff from there.

Might do Jeffreys that evening if we can’t Saturday.

Any advice welcome but this seems feasible. Some spots likely not having full pours. Map links I made below

Monday, up very early as the lady wants to see the today show and get up front. Which I’m totally down for given she wants to brewery hop all day Sunday! If we’re on tv I’ll let you figure out which is us. Done there around 9:00 latest and wanted to walk to Sumptown coffee (18 west/29) and maybe see the empire on the way. Then walk or Uber to the high line walk. Then head to Chelsea market opening around 11. Any good haunts to hit at Chelsea mkt?

From there head back to treehouse and home!

    thanks all!

Folksbier is right by Centre St OH.
Pretty much on the way to Three’s/Wild East/Finback/Strong Rope

Adding Evil Twin would be easier than Grimm if you’re in the Gowanus brewery area.

It's ~1.5mi including Folksbier, depending on how fast you walk I'd say 25-40 minutes. Today is one of the Gowanus Open Studios days, so there are a lot of galleries and art studios open along the way.

Sorry, missed this. Folksbier is 5-10 minutes at most from OH. 25-30 from there to Wild East, Finback etc.

Thanks for all of the help everyone! Off to start our mini tour now in Lower Manhattan. If anyone see’s a brunette girl and a dude in a tan Patagonia vest and tan Dark Seas hat say what’sup!

Or at least make a side comment loud enough about the original “sweatshirt” BA poster I ripped the avatar from and see if I turn around ha

Enjoy and I thoroughly recommend Folksbier as well. Small location but great beer. Also the area is full of old brownstones with beautiful gardens, landscaping, etc.

Made it to other half after 9/11 memorial and lower Manhattan. What a heavy feeling anytime you walk through.

Beers are excellent. Will recap later.

    thank you all!

Got our asses on TV at the end and Al, Hodah and Savannah were really nice people. Carson….meh. Got a lot of texts and calls ha. Beer recap to follow but you can all poke fun at us a bit for the today show stuff. We were f’ng exhausted getting to Roc at 6 am.

To make this a beer worthy post. We took and went to almost all of your suggestions! Your help made not just myself but E feel quite welcome and happy.

Currently enjoying a few pours at TreeHouse!

All worked out great. Hotel located by time square made for a fun drive into the city and parking garbage. We were exhausted getting in and settled at 11:45 so went to bed.

    Sunday:
Up at it early. Headed to LMann to the 9/11 memorial. Grabbed breakfast sandwiches at the big Atrium food and mall by the river and at there looking at the Statue of Liberty. Grabbed blue bottle and jumped the train to Brooklyn.

OHBC - The beer was great! I did like the imperial stout. All of the hops were good and we enjoyed the DDH Nelson. Solid simcoe ipa as well. Girl as OH said Folksbier was her favorite.

Folksbier - That's some legit shit. Sour with Guava - goddamn. The Pale legit reminds me of bill farmsteads Edward. With that yeast profile and grain bill. We were the only ones there so got to sample pretty much all offerings. What a frigging brewery. Blew us away for such a small curated list.

Three’s - Decided to get a Lyft just to conserve some time. Enjoyed the beers and tastes. Ipa was good but the lager we had was excellent. Sat out in back, then moved in. Nice folks and the atmosphere was cool. LOVED the coffee and cold brew. Glad we grabbed one.

Finback - Solid beers here as usual. I did get a can pour of the new Nelson ipa. Enjoyed it but wasn’t blown away. Fun time outside and played with an awesome puppy. Art show across the street.

Strong Rope - We enjoyed it but only grabbed one beer each. Had the Marzen and an ipa and enjoyed them. Offered two other small pours as well to taste.

Evil Twin - Grabbed a Lyft up to Evil twin. Really enjoyed their sours and smoothie sours. Really good imperial stout as well. Loved the raspberry and passion fruit sour. Cool spot. Very much more of an industrial and bright vibe with the boards and beer names in lights. Super nice group working there.

Left and walked back over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan.

Jeffrey's - After walking a while and grabbing a train we made it to Jeffrey’s. Sat at the bar and met a super nice Irish bartender. Food was great. The only draw back to their list currently was it had a ton of 10+% triple ipas and such. Which at that point wasn’t the flavor I was seeking. Had a solid festbeir and enjoyed some tequila drinks he made to end the night. His drinks were fantastic. Walked back through Times Square after to see the shot show and headed back for bed.

Monday walked to Roc around 6:30 ish and my lady got to meet Al, Hodah and Savannah and family saw a bunch of us on TV there while they reported which was funny. Made her day. Not much beer wise this morning from there just checked out Koreatown, the Empire and some other areas. Hit treehouse for some pours on the way back to Portsmouth. Jjjuice Machine is just….

We very much appreciated everyone’s help, messages and time to help us out. It was awesome. Feet hurt a bit but other than that all gone. We were stoked to visit! Stoked to get to the seacoast as well though.

if anyone is ever coming up our way to the Seacoast area please reach out!

    Thank you!

So, you skipped Wild East which is the best brewery hands down in Gowanus?
