There is the ferry from Williamsburg to DUMBO so its that not much of a pain but the ferry takes like 30 minutes so its not exactly close either. Would definitely suggest doing something on the L before trekking down to DUMBO unless there is other stuff you want to see in DUMBO.

Any good bottle shops in the East Village / Williamsburg area? Ok if I have to travel outside of these areas too. Interested in Hudson Valley, Suarez, Timber, Alchemist, etc.

Good Beer is definitely my pick for the East Village, one of the best shops in NYC as well. From their Instagram they have gotten HVB and Alchemist cans recently. We just got a drop of the Alchemist like last week so a bunch of places might have cans depending on how fast they sell out these days.

You can usually find Heady/Focal at bars if bottle shops sell out. Not a to go option but worth a can if it’s something you are seeking out.

Meckelburg’s in Williamsburg has a good retail selection. Right by OH Domino Park too.
They also have great tap list and food.

Headed to Times Square South / Madison Square Garden area in a few weekends. I'll be watching shows etc. without much time to go far outside the area. And the folks I'm with are not beer people. Not having been around since at least 2018/2019, anything new I should be aware of as far as hidden gems? I see Other Half Rockefeller Center is close enough if I can duck, dodge and dip away from the group for an hour or so. Anything else?

The Top Hops on Lexington is close and usually has a good tap list. Hill Farmstead Susan on currently as an example.

I do now, am a novice haha. Another question, if I stop at my brother's in the Bronx on the way out of town I have seen Harlem Hops recommended a few miles south of his place. Is Bronx Alehouse any good, that is the closest craft beer hit per Google?

My only places in midtown were Rattle & Hum (closed), Beer Culture, and I think Beer Exchange (?) which is also closed. So I don't seem to pick the places that are open for the long haul!

Sorry to hear about Rattle & Hum, how long ago did they close? I really enjoyed that place when I was there about 15 yrs ago.

Damnit, you beat me to it.

I think we need to a pin a comment at the top of the thread that just says “Haymaker”.

Definitely top 3 beer bars in the city.

The original spot closed several years ago due to rising rent cost.

RnH West was an early victim of the pandemic. They claimed that they were only closing temporarily but it's been 18 months since then.

Harlem Hops is great, especially if you’re looking for local hyped NEIPA like Fidens/Obercreek/District 96, but I wouldn’t aim to get to-go cans since they’re all basically priced to compete with draft pour prices.

Bronx Brewery isn’t bad, but is pretty generic mass-distributed kinda stuff.

There’s not a whole ton uptown/in the Bronx, outside of Harlem Hops and Beer Run’s Harlem location, which I’d also recommend. If he’s by the D train take that to 145th and it’s a short walk. There’s a bunch of fun regular bars/restaurants right in that area as well.

My brother is at the start of the 1 train, which appears to run right by Beer Run.

He’s pretty far up there then. Beer Noggin might not be too far, I’ve never been but heard good things.

But yea you can take the 1 to Beer Run, it’d be quite a few stops but it’s a straight shot.

I second the Harlem Beer Run location. Solid spot with a great selection. Also try the Handpulled Noodles spot right next to it. They are fantastic. Enjoy.

It's certainly a long enough ride to midtown that I encounter the "pop up" performers every time it seems. Most of the time a drag lip synch of a female performer or some such thing.

Flying to EWR on a red eye tomorrow night. Will be staying in Midtown east Manhattan (not far from Rockefeller Center) all day Saturday and much of Sunday before flying back out Sunday evening. We've been to NYC several times. Our last visit was 2015/16. And that was only for a 12 hour layover before flying to Berlin/Brussels. It was after the 911 Memorial opened. A must visit back then. My trip before that was around mid 2014 when I visited Coopers Craft and had 3 pours of Other Half Green Diamonds. I heard and read about OH before I visited NYC. So I was looking for it. OH beers was only available on draft in certain bars at the time. So I guess you can say I had them at the beginning before they started to can and get all crazy there.
For this trip I am there for a concert Saturday night. The wife and I have never been to Coney Island (Nathan's) on our 10-12 visits. We are going to visit CI Beach on Saturday or Sunday. Is there anything worth visiting (beer) after we walk the boardwalk and eat hot dogs at Nathans? Otherwise I'm thinking of stopping in the original OH on the way back to Manhattan to visit the Lower Manhattan. Yes I know about OH at the Rock. Walking distance from our hotel and a good place to stop in before going to my concert. Maybe grab a 4pk to go? Concert venue is at the Church Of Heavenly Rest near Central Park. Is there anything worth visiting nearby the venue?
I dont know if I have time for much else while were there. We are planning to have lunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant in Chinatown on Saturday. Thats if we dont go to Coney Island on Saturday. Any new beers I should look for beside OH? Finback?
I know this is a short and sweet trip and at the last minute. Any info would be deeply appreciated.

Coney Island has Coney Island Brewing, which is okay but not really worth making an effort to go out of your way or spend lots of time.

The last time I was out there I went to Finback on the way back, and it’s right near Wild East, Strong Rope, and Threes.

Not much around your concert venue. The first 3 avenues on the UES are 99.9% residential, and the bars/restaurants don’t start popping up until Lexington. The closest craft beer spot I can think would be City Swiggers, but it’d be about a 15 minute walk.
