Lots of options depending on the neighborhood you will be in but Reichenbach Hall and Bierhaus NYC may be what you are looking for.
We're right between Hell's Kitchen and the Diamond District, so both of those are only a one mile walk for us. Thanks for the recommendations!
For a good beer around Chinatown, check out Grotta Local, always has a great list and some good cans. Technically Little Italy but these days that's basically one block on the border of actual Chinatown, more or less right there.
Thanks we’re looking at all these tonight and I’ll refine the neighborhoods. But should be going back to Wild East. Def going to Grimm. At spine point. Other half Roc - hotel 3 blocks away Dae dae coffee - Cold brew blew me away As is Other half bk Que I think threes, fin, strong etc Prob evil twin why not Proletariat McSorleys I’ll add more as I remember
We grabbed dinner at the bar at The Smith in February and enjoyed that as an option. We figured it was a better option than the odd spot our reservation got us. They were cool about it.
Fools Gold is near Chinatown but a bit of a walk from Uncle Lou... but you'll be happy with their beer options. Check out their taplist on Untappd. There are lots of options for German-themed places, but my favorite is Radegast - but they are out in Brooklyn. I can't say it's worth the trek. For cask, your only options in Manhattan are: - Jones Wood Foundry - Drop-off Service - The Shakespeare In Brooklyn/Queens, you'll find cask at two breweries: - Fifth Hammer - Wild East Jones Wood Foundry is the most reliable place in all of NYC for good cask ale. They are English themed. They almost always have two working engines (whereas most other spots these days are limited to one). It's likely out of the way for you, but you can also get good English food there if that's appealing. Taplist is on their website. They usually have some cask from Old Glenham. As a bonus, Bohemian Spirit is a Czech themed place a few blocks away where you can get great Urquell or whatnot. The two make a great combo. Drop-off Service is a gem of neighborhood craft bar (that nobody talks about) and might be a little bit of a pain to get to. They don't always have something on the beer engine though. Check their list (and updated date) on beermenus first. The Shakespeare is likely the easiest place in NYC to get to with cask beer, but they leave something to be desired in terms of quality and vibe. You might have a good time there, but it can be a bit of a gamble. They are English pub themed. They don't have an online taplist. The two breweries with beer engines are limited to their own offerings. Personally, I don't usually care for the cask beer at Fifth Hammer. On the other-hand, the beer at Wild East is usually great. If you are willing to go to Brooklyn, you'll probably also enjoy Wild East's lagers.
Funny that you recommend fool’s gold, as I walked by there this morning and thought, “That place looks cool.” Hopefully I get to check it out. Very much appreciate these recommendations. I’m not headed to Brooklyn this time, but my buddy lives there I visit him regularly, so I’ll save these recommendations. Thanks as well for all the other recommendations.
I would highly recommend Queue Bar in Gowanus right around the corner from the original OH . Shane has a fantastic selection of beers from all over . Hill’s Parrish , Monkish, Root and Branch etc.
Last trip the bar tender grabbed a bottle of Centillion at Proletariat to open for us as Em was hoping she may find some around the city. I imagine rare, but anywhere else we could check and ask while there? Happy to grab pours of other beer if they don’t have it. Not just going to walk in expecting it and split of not. But she’s been looking to find more.
Some retail pops up every few months. 209Station in Park Slope near Prospect Park has recently. I bought a Sang Bleu bottle there about 2 months ago. Otherwise it’s pretty random. Other Half has had on tap a few times, same with Queue.
I've seen Cantillon on the bottle list at Tørst in the past but its pretty pricey. Think we had a small drop somewhat recently since I've seen Sang Bleu pop up on Instagram but likely gone by now. If you're interested in Lambic in general and not just Cantillon, I know Owl Farm, Beer Street South, and Gold Star all have a pretty good selection of stuff like 3F and Tilquin.
