Looking forward to a late March trip to NYC to see the Mets. While I’m in Queens, is there a good beer bar for pre/post game?
I’ll be in Chelsea or thereabouts midweek with an hour or two to kill. Milk & Hops and Haymaker seem close enough. Thoughts on either of those or other options?
As far as I know not a ton right in the area, Ebbs maybe still has that taproom there but that may have closed. On the way out there's Fifth Hammer and Finback both with spots near 7 train stations, each would be a pretty quick detour. Fifth Hammer has more traditional style stuff including always a cask engine, Finback more for hazy IPA and BA stouts.
Haymaker is where I always go before events at MSG. Usually a very good beer list and above average upscale pub food. Depending on where you are in Vhelsea the NYC Beer Dispensary may be another good option. They usually have a nice variety on tap including a lot of diverse styles.
If you'll be in Chelsea, New York Beer Dispensary is the spot. Their taplist is always outstanding and they also have beer to go.
Depends where you are staying and how far you are willing to travel. There is basically nothing within proximity to Citi Field. Are you driving or flying in and using public transportation?
Dang… that tap list. I’ll be in the neighborhood visiting my daughter real soon. I may have to “step out for a pack of smokes.”
Depending on where exactly you are and what you are looking for these are some options. Wheated is great pizza place. Will have to wait in line. Werkstatt is a very good Austrian restaurant with Bavarian beer. Hasenstuble is German beer hall style place. I always go to FIB Tattoo Bar prior to concerts etc. at King’s Theater. Best option reasonably close for craft beer would probably be the Adirondack, which is Windsor Terrace. I’m sure others may have some hidden gems in the area.
Just went to Evil Twin in Dumbo Brooklyn. Somewhat rundown area and facility But some extreme beers And lots available
Is Parabola? I was there about a week ago and had a glass while I “missed my 7pm, gotta wait for the 8pm train”.
In the past I’ve gotten off the 7 for short walk to the LIC Fifth Hammer and then back on the 7 to Citifield. The 7 is most likely the subway you would take depending on where you are midtown. Ebbs had a spot somewhere near the 3rd base side that is outside of the stadium the past couple seasons but not sure if it will be there next season. Food and their beer. Decent but gets crowded before games.
Was a franchise of Mikkeler owned by Wilpons and actually had an amazing draft list, better than majority of places in the city at that time. Couldn't go into stadium thru it though as I recall.
Allagash has a spot in Citi Field called Allagash Alley located on the Exelsior Level behind Section 311. I've never been, don't know anything about it, and couldn't even tell you if it's open... but it's probably worth checking out/looking into. Various vendors outside of that spot also sell Allagash White cans.
