NYC Shops Thread (2019)

You are correct that they dont date the bottles. If this was an old stock, I can’t imagine how good fresh Pils would be based on how much I love the bottles I just had these past 2 weeks.

Not really a list of shops per se, but I think it's a pretty good list. I expected to see As Is and Proletariat at the top 2-3 spots, glad to see Harlem Hops, Bondurants and Pony Bar getting well-deserved props.

 

I'm pretty sure Eater doesn't do rankings, Harlem hops is the first listed cause its the most Northern. They typically list things North to South for whatever reason.

A number of misses in their list. Haymaker? Ginger Man? One Mile House? St. Gambrinus? BGH? The list goes on. It's hard being a beer nerd sometimes.

 

Ah that makes sense. Weird that they'd have numbered rankings, but outside of As Is being above/north of City Hops that seems to add up.

 

Its been popping up in NJ on beermenus the last few days, so soon I'd imagine.

 

On Tap at Whole Foods in Columbus Circle is CLOSED. All the beer is gone, all the chairs were on the tables, and most of the signage was removed. Not sure what's going on but it looks like it's toast.

 

FWIW it seems like Amazon has completely removed tap/ growler fills from all Whole Foods.

 

One of their many steps in turning all Whole Foods into worker-less drone shops where you just walk in, grab shit, and walk out.

 

That's a damn shame. The staff there was pretty clueless, but the selection and prices were always pretty solid.

Any idea if they also nixed all the to-go stuff behind the bar? Or just moved it elsewhere in the store?

 

To go stuff looked like it was by the wall by the checkouts, in the most inconvenient part of the store. There had to be at least 200 people waiting to be checked out so I didn't even bother.

 

I called them yesterday and the person confirmed that On Tap is gone for good, and right now no beer for onsite consumption. It was a great place to take a break.

 

Every Whole Foods in the whole United States? What is your source?

 

I was referring to just the city as this is an NYC Shop thread.
