bummer... the Bar space at Bryant Park location was pretty nice too... wonder what they will do with that..

 

My brother works the beer department at food emporium on 49 st. He keeps my fridge flooded with the good stuff. If you're every in the neighborhood he's always available to chat. If you're looking for this year's varients on bcbs he will gladly hook you up come Thanksgiving week

I think someone from that food emporium was cutting promos on this site before. If I recall correctly the pricing was outrageous or they played the "buy all this old beer nobody wants and I'll sell you the beer you actually want." Whatever it was, people were not thrilled with what was going on there .

 

Wasn't aware of this. Sorry if I spoke out of place. I just know my brother is way too passionate when it comes to beer lol

Story time (since apparently this is a yearly thing)

Every year someone pops up in this thread claiming to work at Food Emporium and every year they boast about "hooking people up". One year some guy posted that they were selling Bourbon County Coffee early, then refused to sell it to people when they showed up. Not only that but they price gouge even the regular BCBS. They're still selling last years for $15. There are plenty of better beer stores nearby that don't treat their customers like walking ATM's.

And if I wanted to really nitpick, their overpriced IPA's are months old and unrefrigerated.

 

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. This is why creating a dialogue is so important. Didn't come here to shove something down people's throats. I can just speak from my personal experience cheers

 

Just thought I’d throw it out there since you’re a WBAYDN regular and I enjoy your posts, this is definitely a touchy subject in this sub-forum. I’ll just leave it at that. Appreciate the heads up but, Lol, this subject has been beaten to a pulp in the past.

Can anyone point me to the best bottle shop currently in midtown? I haven't been in the city for 5-6 years, but will be around briefly next Tuesday

 

Clinton gourmet on 10th Ave between 45th and 46
Bread & honey on 8th avenue between 55th and 56
And from of emporium on 8th Ave between 49th and 50th street.
Great beer selection at all locations

 

Schilling is a nice addition

 

While not a bottle shop, but worth adding is Haymaker, as they now seem to regularly have 2-3 Other Half cans to go options at brewery prices.

 

Great Notion cans in at As Is and to go at Beer Run

 

I heard somewhere that Beer Shop on the UWS closed? I moved uptown a while ago so I can't confirm immediately, but even with their prices I still really liked that place. Would be a shame.
