One of my best friends, a fellow beer geek, is heading up to NYC in a few days and wants to know a couple stores around downtown he could go to get some awesome beers that may not be available down in Ohio. Any suggestions? I know he is into BA beers, stouts, quads, ipas, tripels...
Not a beer store but tell him to hit up the Gingerman Bar. They have an impressive selection on draft and in bottles. It is kept up to date on their website. Bob
For Stores, hit up Whole Foods Bowery... a few blocks down on Christye Street is New Beer Distributors... pretty much anything sold in the NYC market can be found there (except an special/super limited releases which will be gone by then)
As noted, check out Whole Foods - Bowery. Aside from that, check out Pony Bar, Stag`s Head, and some other places. Ginger Man in NY is poorly operated, managed, and not really worth your time.
