I'm headed up to NYC this Saturday and will get to spend about half a day there. I'm traversing from the lower west side to the lower east side, then taking the subway to Torst before I head to my flight out of JFK. I've heard there are bodegas that sell Other Half cans around the city, can anyone point me in the right direction to one of those?

Trip-wise, is allowing 2 hrs by subway to get from Torst to JFK fine? Last time I wanted to get into the city I didn't bother because of a nightmare biking festival happening that weekend so I recognize that travel plans within the city can be easily totally wrecked. Just want to make sure all my bases are covered.

    Thanks

The easiest way to get to JFK from BK would probably be taking the LIRR from Atlantic Terminal to Jamaica and the Airtrain from Jamaica to JFK. Its very easy and def will not take 2 hours. If your main mission is Other Half cans you may want to consider doing the Other Half, Threes, Whole Foods Gowanus tour and then heading to Atlantic Terminal.

According to the MTA Trip Planner, 2 hours is more than enough. I plugged in Terminal 5, but if you want to be more accurate you can check it out on line.

I can't answer about Other Half, but if you are going to be at Torst anyway, you should also check out Greenpoint nearby. Their hoppy stuff is quite good, and you may even score some cans.

Did this exact trip last Tuesday. Tried Other Half's Triple Cream at Torst. Quick 10 minute walk to Greenpoint. The bar was completely open. Had a pint, scored a 4 pack of No Wave, and went on my way. I wish more trips went like that.

There are no bodegas in the city that sell OH cans, at least that I am aware of, and I doubt anyone that knows them will be willing to share unfortunately...

Haymaker sells OH cans to go every once in awhile. This Saturday is their 4th anniversary and the draft/bottle list is pretty solid.
