    Hey all,

Heading to NYC in a couple weeks with my wife and 5 year old. Looking for a few ideas for places with good food, nice beer list, and family friendly. Seem to be able to find plenty with one of the 3 criteria, but haven't had much luck finding all three in one location. Staying in Manhattan- financial district. Open to any type of food, but will avoid the most expensive places (Grammercy Tavern) due to the 5 yr. old. Any help would be appreciated

Are you staying in Manhattan? Threes Brewing in Brooklyn fits the bill, but would be a hassle to get to if you are not in Brooklyn.

    No suggestions here, but...

You should specify what part of NYC you'll be in and what sort of "good" food you want.... pub food, fancy 5-course dinner, or a specific type of cuisine. NYC has a ton of options for food and people's opinions here of what is "good" food can vary a lot.

Where do you plan on being in NYC (it is a surprisingly big place)? Manhattan? Queens? Brooklyn?

Beer Authority right by Port Authority Bus Terminal (very close to Times Square) has pretty good food, usually a decent beer list, and I have seen families there. Granted I have usually visited it in the middle of the day, not later at night and usually during the week.

Also, if you consider venturing out to Hoboken, NJ there is a place Pilsener Haus that used to have a very family friendly brunch/lunch on the weekends.

Yeah, sorry. We are staying in Manhattan in the financial district. Updated original post to clarify a bit.

I live pretty close to both Pilsner Haus and Zepplin hall, trust me its not worth making the trip. There are much better beers gardens in Manhattan and BK. Hell I wouldnt even recommend those place if you are in Hoboken or JC.

In that neighborhood Bareburger usually has a few good taps . A bit of a walk will get you to Barleycorn , which is much more beer centric . Neither place seems to have a kiddie menu , but maybe appetizers would work .

By no means saying it is the best beer hall in the NYC area, but extremely family friendly with decent Eastern European food.

I'd recommend Marta though it isn't exactly in that neighborhood. Great pizza, better beer, could work for a family

I second Marta but its not cheap. Haymaker is good bar with decent food. Jefferys has a beer garden ...I have seen people with kids there and at one mile house in east village. Clinton Hall in downtown, mission dolores, spritzenhaus33 (great brats and beer), greenpoint, threes,in BK. In fact if its not packed even torst is not bad.

It used have decent food few years ago. its all burnt brats and greasy fries for now. There are much better places for brats and sausages in JC.

Bareburger has a kids menu - or at least the other ones I've been to do. Usually a good beer or two. Probably a good bet.

Or take the free Water Taxi to Ikea/ Red Hook - there's a good BBQ joint by the Fairway market that has good beer, plus you get a nice scenic ride.

Marta is great, we've taken my 3 year old there a few times.

Three's brewing has a sign for no kids at a certain point, I think it's like 7pm. If you were to go out to Brooklyn, I'd recommend Frannys, great pizza and beer, they often have Grimm or HF, and takes reservations.

It's called Hometown BBQ. I recommend it and the Watet Taxi, which you can catch at Pier 11.

You guys need to create a comprehensive quarterly updated beer places list for NYC like some other cities have on this site.
