Any recommends on any good craft beer centric places doing anything special for NYE (besides your personal bottle popping at home)?

LA/OC/SD/IE has got to be one of the worst places for NYE. Period. Your better staying home and celebrating with the rest of the world. Safer too. The police will be out in force.

Tony's Darts Away is doing an all you can drink event and Mohawk Bend is doing an all you can eat event (drinks are separate). Those are the only two "events" I know of. Blue Palms was supposed to have one but they cancelled it due to low ticket sales.

Why is SoCal one of the worst places for NYE? Safer for who? Why would a strong police force be a bad thing?

Newhall Refinery is doing a Mardi Gras themed NYE event. You have to buy tickets ahead of time.

Because for years L.A. has attempted to do their own NYE countdown, but by then the rest of the U.S. has already done theirs and it's not a sort of unity thing anymore. Aside from that, we're a fucking urban sprawl and getting from one party to another can be geographic tic tac toe. In the event that you do go to a party, the taxi services and public transit system is still not where it should be, even with ride sharing services, that if you do party, the chances are that 5 out of the next 10 cars you see on the road will be over the limit. Making travel even more of a pain.

More cops may not be a bad thing, but it's still odds that I don't like taking driving on NYE.

Bottom line is that NYE in LA is not the same as like in NYC -- but I'm glad it isn't. That doesn't mean there aren't any good events anywhere or there's nothing fun to do but it's just hard, dangerous and expensive to get around and the best bet is to stay home and/or hang out with friends locally.

While not as bad as LA could be, San Diego sucks as well especially with the upcoming changes to drinking on the Coaster....again....

There is an event at Stone in escondido and honestly I may not attend just because of the 20 minute drive back home after midnight. Odds of getting an uber would be slim, taxi almost non-existent, and self-driving..well Early said it best that the majority of them would probably be buzzed/over-limit. Plus all of our amber alert signs down here have the "Buzzed driving is drunk driving" on them, so I can only imagine that anything other than perfect driving will become suspect to the nightly patrol. I would rather not have to deal with being pulled over under suspicion because I was trying to avoid a stick in the road and only had one pint of 2001 Stone IRS.

Hassle...just not worth it imo. Friends, beers, passing out on the floor, and board games/movie....worth it.

Sounds like every weekend in LA. Believe it or not but last year I took FREE public transport to the Grand Park DTLA party which was chill then took more free public transport around to some partys in Ktown and Echo park. Metro is free and the trains running 24 hours on NYE. Take the bus chill out.

This is why they have Uber. If you know where to go, there are plenty of options in LA. Uber there and back.

I'm a huge fan of Uber but you just know the surge pricing will be in effect, especially on the way home when you need the ride the most.

Did uber fix their dynamic pricing? Dont even want to know what one would cost at 1230 or 1 on NYE.

So long as it is less than 2-3 grand...still cheaper than a DUI.

At least you have an excuse. All I have is a dog at home. But a full wall of board games and a full fridge of beer that are just screaming at me to drink them.

Supposedly Congregation Ale House will have a complimentary champagne toast, if you're into that sort of thing.
