    Hello BA Members,

I am taking a trip to the beautiful island of Oahu. I have never been and wanted to know of the craft beer scene on the island. What are the must go tos, the breweries, the bottle shops and the beer bars? Thank you for the information. Have a great day!

    THank you,
    Rosty

the one brewery i kept hearing about while there is http://hawaiinuibrewing.com/ i found it afterall and it merged with http://mehanabrewing.com/

They specialize in english styles in colorful cans and I enjoyed my visit. when you visit it you should also go to Poke to your Taste which you'll probably read about anyway but also a local spot in the area called Hawaiian Style Cafe. Food was amazing at both of these.

Just moved here in August, still figuring out stuff around here. There's some great beer bars here, Real A Gastropub, Tropics Tap house, Brew'd, and Yardhouse (over 140 beers on tap), seem to stand out. I may be missing some, but those are the ones I know about. My favorite local breweries are Kona Brewing (for their brewery only stuff and Pipeline Porter), Maui Brewing, and the one that stands out the most Big Island Brewhaus. BIB Overboard IPA and BIB White Mountain Porter are the best I've had since being here. If you like cheap beach beer, can't go wrong with Primo. I have it in my fridge all the time. The website, beerinhawaii.com is EXTREMELY informative. Also has a Facebook page, www.facebook.com/beerinhawaii . For beer stores, Liquor Collection is good but a little on the high side, Tamura's is solid, and Whole Foods in Kailua has a good selection. If you just want local stuff, you can go to Foodland, Safeway, or Times and get it. Sometimes you'll find some great stuff there as well. If you want IPAs, all of the local ones that I've found in cans are at least 2 months old. There might be a place to get them fresh off the "boat", but I haven't found it. Might be better to get them off tap.
