Oatmeal IPA

    I've been thinking about making an oatmeal IPA, but was concerned it would throw off the IPA mouthfeel. Maybe I'll reconsider. Of course, I've been know to take some risks in order to get good head.

    The mouthfeel was pretty awesome. I love a good IPA, but I think a lot today are pretty unbalanced. The oats brought a really awesome balance I thought. The hop flavor and bitterness was still there, but it was slightly dulled. But I enjoyed it. Especially the nose on it. It really let the hops shine.

    There are some killer breweries here, sorry you didn't get a response. Where did you try asking? Typically we are pretty good on this site if you post in the "Southwest" regional board. Next time though you will have some nice surprises and places to try.

    There's still a ton here in Minnesota. They brewed it for about a month this year; it was the first beer released from their brand new brewery. Chicago may end up getting more still, who knows?

    Fatamorgana is probably on my Top 5 DIPA list for sure. It's unreal how good that beer is. And it looks almost better than it tastes.

    This is the best one I've ever had...Hoof Hearted's[​IMG]
    it's also the only oatmeal IPA I've ever had.

    Lawson's Double Sunshine reportedly has somewhere between 5-10% oats in the mash.

    I just asked around at liquors stores and grocery stores. I ended up getting on BA after all of those, but I didn't ask around. I just looked around. Now I know!
