Oatmeal Stouts

Yeah- the Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout is what even the Rogue haters will acknowledge as a very nice beer.

Have you tried Ipswitch yet? That one may be more up your alley as well.

 

New Glarus Road Slush is pretty tasty this year.

 

I'm a big fan of Anderson Valley's Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout.

Also Firestone Velvet Merlin (and Velvet Merkin but that's barrel aged so may not be quite what you are looking for, despite being delicious).

For a very affordable option, I'm also a fan of Trader Joe's Stockyard Oatmeal Stout. Runs about $5.99 / sixer at my local spot.

 

The Poet from New Holland is pretty nice too.

Definitely Velvet Merlin and Merkin. Anderson Valley Barney Flats is pretty good too.

 

Stoudt's Fat Dog imperial oatmeal stout is one of the beers that first got me into craft beer a few years back. Still one of my favorite stouts.

 

New Holland The Poet, Dark Horse One, Anderson Valley Barney Flats

 

Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout is my standard go to for this.

 

Ipswich Oatmeal Stout is my go-to favorite Oatmeal Stout. That's a man's Oatmeal Stout. mmm

I also dig FW Velvet Merlin, NH The Poet, and Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout (for a more English, smooth style).

 

Another vote for Velvet Merkin

 

The Firestone is probably my least fav of the bunch but all good. These are the only ones I could find pics for them. The Poet is probably the best value and maybe the best one (tied with 4hands)

 

If you can get Pipeworks' Grand Guignol; Act One oatmeal stout, you are in for a treat.

Best I've had of the style in some time.
