As suggested on this forum, I have been using paint strainer bags that are about 1/2 the price of smaller "made for DHing" bags sold on-line and at LHBSs.

They work great, but what I have discovered is that if filling kegs to the max, the bag can get caught in the relief valve when venting. Also, they smell kind of weird right out of the plastic bag they come in. I have been soaking them in oxyclean and drying in the sun to get rid of the smell before using them.

Normally, I use them in the boil, but decided to DH with them this time.

Thanks for the heads up on the kegging. I've never tried, but always been interested. Now, maybe I'll bottle a few more beers to drop the level down. Cheers!

I just zip tie the bag to the dip tube and it never clogs, good way to keep it down

I have used marbles to weight the bag down.
