OCMD bars?

I had a fun time at Burley Oak. Loved the Bunker C porter, but hated the red ale with jalapenos added; I could only stomach 1 sip.
Fun place to hang out for a few hours.

 

Agreed definitely go to Burley Oak. No food though, but good beer. Also, if you do want to drive a little (30 minutes maybe) go to Evolution. Can't go wrong there.

 

There is also a new brewery I've heard about, but have not yet been called Tall Tales Brewing http://www.talltalesbrew.com/

Not sure how it is though I plan on checking it out next time I'm down that way.

I agree. I was excited for this place to open because it's less than a mile from my house. The beers are not very good. They spend more time advertising the food than the beer. Drive the extra 15 minutes into Salisbury and go to Evolution. You won't be disappointed.

 

Ouch that bad. I'll stick to Burley Oak and Evolution then. Was looking forward to trying a new place thought.

 

Also, check out JC's Northside Pub on 127th street. They have a solid selection of Evolution, Burley Oak, and Eastern Shore Brewing amongst other MD beers. Solid food as well.

 

If you're really looking to try something new, 3rd Wave opened up in the old Evolution tasting room. Their stuff, while not exactly mind blowing, is worlds better than Tall Tales.

 

A few friends and myself are heading down at the end of this month. Burley Oak is certainly worth checking out. Also mentioned above was 45th Street Taphouse which I was at last year and was probably the best selection I found on the strip. We plan to drive out to Evolution and hit Tall Tales (tick), and Burley Oak on the way back towards OCMD.

 

Thx for the tip on 3rd Wave haven't heard of them before.

 

There are some hits and some misses, but I think they are just getting their footing. Their head brewer came from one of the Iron Hills.

 

It's going to be crazy in OC that weekend, I am headed up for the Cruisin' OC car show. Be prepared for bumper to bumper traffic all up and down the main drag, but a ton of sweet cars!

Have since been to Pizza Tugos in West OC at the corner of 50/611. Well worth a stop.

 

Two new brewpubs:

- Shorebilly Brewing - 10th St. on the boards.
- De Lazy Lizard - Where Melvin's Steak House used to be and another location between 4th and 5th on the boards.

I'm just hoping that they produce some quality brew.

Lazy Lizard is going to brew beer now? It's just been a bar/restaurant since it's inception. Decent place during the day, but a haven for douchiness at night.
