Morning. Having some surgery done tomorrow on a torn meniscus in my right knee. Then heading to OCMD to recover. I'll be watching my kids play in the ocean and the pool. Hoping to drink some good brews and perhaps visit a few places while I'm there. Looking at Beerfly, OC still seems to be the beer wasteland it was since my last visit a few years back. So is there some places I should hit that aren't listed, also opinions on why the beer scene is poor down there.
Burley Oak (10-15 minute drive from the main strip), 45th Street Taphouse, Liquid Assets (good bottle shop), Shorebilly Brewing, De Lazy Lizard. Haven't been to the last two yet but they're relatively new-ish.
Abbey Burger Bistro is supposed to be opening an Ocean City location (if it's not already opened) near Montego Bay. I've only been to their Federal Hill location in Baltimore but they have a pretty decent beer selection. Burgers are great. Customized for you: you pick the meat (Beef, bison, lamb, etc.), condiments, type of roll, cheese and how you want it cooked. If you're looking for a dessert, see if they have the Bergers Cookie milk shake.
Was just there this past week and brought my own. In the past, Brewski Bros up near 130th was nearby and had something I enjoyed for the week (Deviant Dales, Hop Rod Rye, etc.) but often they aren't fresh. 45th Street Taphouse's menu actually looked pretty weak for a "taphouse". The most surprising menu in OC had to be Pizza Tugo's. Look up their taphouse location and the beer menu. Best I saw while there. I don't think thats each location, just the taphouse.
I would highly recommend swinging by Burley Oak on your way into OC and picking up some growlers. Not sure if they fill any growler or only their own
Stopped at Burley Oak on the way in. Cool little place. Tried some samples and snagged a growler to go. Medicine bottles just said be careful with alcohol and the wife was driving so.... Aslo hit the 45th st Taphouse and de Lazy Lizard for dinner while down there. Grabbed a bottle of Maine Brewing Another One at Anthony's as well. Maine puts out some great stuff.
