I agree. Plus I feel like if you weren't already on your way, the two case limit would only go to support you having a better chance of getting it...

Maybe I didn't word it quite right. It clearly wasn't held for us, or we would have gotten it. It was more like an assurance that they had plenty to go around and we would be taken care of with leftovers. That didn't happen. Not blaming McLovin or anyone else that walked out with hand-trucks. But had that not been allowed to take place, there would have been "plenty left" as the brewery thought. Everyone assumes that had 29 cases not gone out the door at once, there would have been 29 people in his place. Fact is he muled for 29 people who couldn't or wouldn't make the drive. If he had said "no, get your own beer", how many of them would have in fact made the drive? Maybe some, but I'm betting not all. So if half of the beer muled that day never left the brewery, there would still be some available.

Yeah and OSA would not have that money in their pocket, which would be a dumb business move. I am sure it would sell out eventually but maybe not and then they have to pay to distribute.

There will never be a perfect way to release beer, I think we can all agree on that. I just feel like this isn't the worst way to do it and there could probably be a middle ground with 10 case limit or something in the future.

The thing about beer is that butts get hurt. Butts are hurting bad. For what it is worth, I received a case of Hipster by my kind neighbor and it got dropped off at my door. If you got shut out, send me a private message and I will hook you up with some Goose Island Matilda at cost to east your pain.

Hey....it's Benny3000. I'll pass on that Matilda but I'll for sure take that 2015 Black Note off of your hands...

The line was gone at 3 or maybe sooner. I walked right up, bought my cases, and started drinking the great taps. This means that anyone who was actually in the beer line, essentially, got whatever they were looking for.

Btw, I was able to do this after rolling around metro in the morning to buy BCBS and after hitting Crunchy's in EL for Vanilla Rye on tap around lunch time.

You want the beer? Stop crying and do better. Take the drive or find a friend. The butt hurt here is ridiculously strong.

That's the thing...where do you cut it off? Is 10 cases okay? So if he would have brought 2 friends with him, then filling up his car with 29 cases is just fine? People got upset about me purchasing a 36 bottle limit beer per person...one that didn't run out until over a month later.

IMO - The issues arise when people have to use questionable outside help to circumvent limits for personal gain. (for example: hiring homeless people, hookers, your grandmother, etc. to pick up Hazel's nuts so you can sell or trade it)

I understood your story, sorry if my explanation wasn't clear. Let's make it clear he offered to grab for other people, it wasn't requested. I will agree with you that not all of those people would have gone if he didn't, but certainly some would. Either way, I do not believe the brewery should hold cases for anyone, but they also shouldn't have told you they would (and unfortunately, didn't). While I find it unfortunate that people will show up to releases hours before they open (and hours before necessary), I do believe that those are the people that deserve to get things. Making assumptions in the beer world can be dangerous though. A lot of people freaked out after the BB Neapolitan stout release and has made people get their much earlier than necessary...I, myself, decided not to go until later and did okay...but accepted that I may not get any by making the choice. I was the first person to purchase Morningwood two years ago and was one of the first few last year, and I didn't get there until close to open. I find it funny how a beer nobody cared about the past several years has become some obsession now, and yes, it sucks people get to releases way to damn early for beer...but it sadly is the way it is.

At the end of the day, do you really think Odd Side didn't know this would be happening with a no limit release? They are well aware of people picking up for other people and of beer trading. This also is the reason why the majority of people know of the beer. This release was so successful because people trade and send off their beer

Did they say they ran out on Friday? I stopped in yesterday and was able to snag a 4-pack.

You don't cut it off - you keep no limit. The business has no obligation to satisfy the whining minority. Nothing short of someone pulling up with a UHaul semi-truck and wanting to buy all 500+ cases should change that.

Everyone who doesn't understand this go dig up a Degarde thread. This has been discussed ad nauseam.

How much does Hipster even trade for? I just got offered two cases for one of my bottles of Rare.

Butts... They are so hurt. Meanwhile at Bells, 2015 BA Black Note is there for the taking and none of you asshats are talking about that. So many solid takes on how to run a business here. So much can be learned here.

Quantity over quality at that point.
    Do it.

I had a Hipster last night and I am guessing its quality and quantity over a half liter and a fancy box.

Two cases for Rare? I'd throw something at that poor bastard to ease his pain of realizing it wasn't worth two cases of Hipster...
