I won't boycott OSA. I make the trip over quite frequently as I love Grand Haven and have a good trade partner there. I remember drinking Hazels before it was even Hazels and saying....you should bottle this stuff. I'll be back for next years releases hoping for better results. I hope they take a payment by check though. And when it bounces I'll just say "should have cashed it sooner". Working on my canned response now. That has to be acceptable, right?

    Haha!
I made a joke in another forum that I was their accountant because all the questions about refunds and if I had some involvement in the business. If I was managing their books they would not still be operational! I'm the furthest thing from an accountant.

All apologies then in regards to that aspect. You have to admit that you're defending them like it's your job, right?

I just support the brewery and consider several people there friends. I am not communicating for, or trying to speak for them, but, just based on what I know, I don't believe they're hiding anything from me (us). I feel for them, and understand they're in a tough spot.

How could you not feel for a company that sells out $100 a case beers event after event that can't even say "oops, looks like we fucked up, we are sorry"?

Obviously can't speak for everyone but I would be much more inclined to not be so butt hurt about being stuck with the better part of a case of their nasty beer if they would just come out and apologize. A little accountability would go a long way in my book.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but mine is definitely "off". Slight tartness/metallic, more carbonated. Yes, I am sober. Yes, this is my first beer tonight.

I must have given them some bad energy on Black Friday because I've been stuck with Hipster, Mokka, and now this that do not taste right or remotely similar to what is expected a few months after bottling. #disappointed

Are you drinking the Black Friday batch or the newest batch?

I just had one from the new batch and it tastes great. I will crack open a BF bottle and see what happens.

I imagine your review of the BF version will be positive...if I were a betting man

Drinking a BBIMM right now and thankfully it's ok. The heat has mellowed which is to be expected. Sort of disappointing for me because I love the heat on it when fresh, but that has nothing to do with Odd Side. Might try another Hipster later, but I'm expecting the worst.

We have already established that the problem seems to be very random and not everybody has bad bottles. I guess I am an asshole for having no issues with my bottles. I will try harder to have bad ones for you in the future.

You shouldn't have future issues once they introduce their best by next week labels

    I don't...

But I find it odd that if you or anybody on here IS testing said beer (as you've alluded in your post), that you/they don't share said information... How long do these tests take anyway? I've seen some automated units that can complete said testing within hours so share the results if you have some (more for those who are all pissed about this).

Regardless of the results, I'll continue to support OSA... Shit happens... This is the same reason why I didn't call Goose Island for a refund for my 1 known bad bottle of the Bourbon County Barleywine (with one still sitting in the cellar).

I'm going to assume you're referring to me; I no longer work for an A2LA lab... Watching a box (err... package/sample) undergo ISTA testing is about the most boring shit I've ever done in my life. Seen one chair burn, you've seen them all burn...(cool the first time but gets old in a hurry). Corrosion testing was rather interesting though (and quite the eye opening experience regarding 'quality'). Furthermore, if you think an accredited lab is somehow more credible, you're way off... (see: company A sending 10 samples for testing and only wanting a report for sample/s that pass testing...).

I agree that there's obviously something going on with the beers (at least BA Mayan Mocha/Hipster), but I never made the proposal for said testing. Frankly, I don't care about the results of the testing; I care about how the beer tastes to me.

Just figured I'd balance all of the hate for OSA with some OSA love . It's funny how quickly this community turns on a brewery, whether it be over a bad batch of beer or 'selling out to the man' (or in Goose Island's case - both lol). Would those of you pissed with their response (essentially a , you're on your own with this beer...) really be OK with them saying, "yea we made an infected beer...we won't give refunds, but we apologize"??? Just asking because I've seen people wanting refunds, brewery credit, and/or apologies yet it doesn't seem any of these 'solutions' would make everybody happy either...

    I've read the whole thread.

Just speaking from experience regarding direct contact (ie in person vs. e-mail/social media/BA). Words on a monitor don't seem to have the same effect as face to face contact.

Since this thread has been spinning in circles, I drank the rest of my hipsters and bbaimms. So this issue is behind me and I don't care what type of recourse OSA does or does not make.

this is why breweries dump shitty product in the market and don't stick by their products at all. goose admitted they fucked up, offered you money and you are like "nah, that's totally cool, my fault that you made a terrible product."

can hardly fault oddside when people are blindly pledging loyalty to for-profit businesses that are taking a dump on customers.

Also - there is much more that a person is probably willing to say, than type. anything "posted" gets twisted and dissected front, back & side-to-side.

    From reading these comments,

it seems their customer service strategy revolves around the fact that they sold most of BBIMM and all of Hipster direct from the brewery. Why bother with a social media or website response? You all bought it here, so you all can come in to our "customer service desk" here. You're from too far away? Too bad...

    That's my best guess.
