Who's got some good ones? I know they're out there. I'm not sure I've ever seen a thread on this topic before. Not the successful and generous ones which we all hear about on a regular on here...

I'll start. Not necessarily a great one, but one I found odd, and thought....what a minute. What's up with this guy?

I'll leave out names and suggest the same. Cool?

Never traded with said trader, but we get all the specifics worked out. Tade value, $4$ blah blah. Once We agree that it's all wrapped up, trader then goes onto say "It's a 3 hour drive for me each way" and starts to factor in gas prices, the size of his tank and mileage he gets. Then wants to work that into the trade and have me beef up my end to make it work for him.

I immidiately terminated the trade and all discussions moving forward. Figured it would be more of a stress than exciting, as trading should be (In my mind) about excitement and generosity. Cool and relaxed, anticipating a surprise when you receive the box, like a kid on Christmas morning so to speak.

There have to be some oddball and hillarious ones out there. Who's got em'?

    Cheers! Let's keep it fun.

I traded with over 100 BA's who, without knowing who I was, sent me exactly what we had agreed upon, plus often much more. I did the same. It was weird and truly amazing.

I feel like I'm in the midst of an oddball trading story! :astonished:

I now have FedEx on speed-dial as I've spent tons of time on the phone with them in the last couple of days, trying to locate the shipments that I've been trying to send out. This was after asking the concierges many many many many times to be sure the packages were actually picked up (yes, they think I'm crazy. And also probably that I live alone with twenty seven cats). Mind you, these are my very first two trades, but no biggie. :grimacing:

One of them has supposedly been found, but is in the hands of an "express" driver as opposed to "ground." One would think it would be a simple correction, but so far it's taken days to sort out. (On a related note: anyone have good success with UPS? I've since opened an account with them.)

Ok, so this isn't really a story and it's not all that oddball, but I guess I just needed to rant! (And to express myself through emoticons.)

I feel like I'm waiting for the BA Trading Police to show up at my front door, flashing a badge that says ISO with my picture. :flushed:

I recently completed a trade with a fellow who sent me two extras. The choices were so uncannily well chosen for me (a BB, which is possibly my favorite beer ever; and a Stone 12 Anny, which I have sentimental attachments to for a variety of reasons) that I was kinda creeped out. I sent said trader a big thank you note, and he mentioned that they were on my "wants" list, which I had completely forgotten about since the site went down a while back.

A prescription bottle with no cap but still showing all of the personal info on the sticker was used as packing material. I tried to see if there was a cap and some sort of noisemaker that fell out but only the bottle was in the box.

Nothing weird personally but remember reading a story on here a few weeks back. The Ba stated that he was "extra'd" 4 empty dirty growlers. That guy wins this thread.

I think I left my scissors in a box that I recently sent. I can't find them. One of my trading partners may have a new set of Fiskars. You're welcome.

I once set up a trade with a guy, and everything went as planned. I open the box he sent, only to find that the beer inside was nothing like the beer I had expected - seriously. Turns out, he placed the wrong shipping labels on two different boxes and somebody else received my box down in California.

I got in contact with the guy with my box and we set up a mini trade to compliment the original trades we'd set up. Turned out great and we are now actually regular traders, with an exchange every few months.

    Pretty cool.

Has anybody ever crumpled up pages of an old porno magazine to use as box filler?

I once got a box that was filled with Mooney propaganda magazines. Not necessarily as packing material- it was a miracle the bottles did not break, as the bottles were just resting atop the magazines, no crumpling, no bubble wrap, with about half the box as empty space to roll around in.

This gives me hope for the box I just sent JustXBeer! I didnt have bubble wrap (since this is my first trade, I had to ship first and haven't received a box with bubble wrap) so I opened a few boxes of my kids' Kraft mac n cheese and used that as filler. I opened the powdered cheese packets for extra padding though.

Last week I ran out of NY Times and grabbed several copies of the Village Voice out of the box on the corner near my house. I proceeded to pack three boxes, then, after packing the third box, realized the last third of the paper is full of escort, stripper, and phone sex ad's......

Hopefully someone's wife does not think they are trying to hire a NYC hooker....
