Having Hipster now & was so focused on what it would taste like but was taken aback by the tart smell that wafted after pouring. Definitely not the same taste as the last one I had in Jan but not as tart tasting as smelling. Anyone interested in a case of Tart Hipster?
    Mokka is up next

Opened my last bottle of Hipster tonight. Tart taste at the end for me.

Carb level was high - head stayed 1-2 fingers the entire time and did not dissipate.

@core42 Thanks for banging those 3 out and reporting in under 6 hours. Most Ba's need some sort of holiday or special occasion in order to drink barrel beers

My Wife opened up a BA Mayan Mocha this evening and I could smell the acetic acid/vinegar from about 10 feet away. Being that I just got out of the ER for muscle spasms and was heavily medicated (flexerall, Toradol, Norco, and a few other injections/pills), I couldn't try it. Ultimately, she couldn't finish the bottle and dumped half of it.

I've posted in the Black Friday thread as well, but I tend to agree with @LambicPentameter . I do think that OSA could have handled this better as well, but have no plans to boycot them. While the response from OSA on here may disappoint many, I'm hoping they will be doing things differently going forward.

For what it's worth, I don't work for (nor am I tied in anyway to OSA) - I've talked to some of their staff on a few occasions, and have been to their brewpub quite a few times. Frankly I enjoy most of what they put out; the response is a disappointment to many (myself included), but again it's not going to cause me to give up on them.

The only Oddside beer I would consider purchasing in the future is Flexeril Citra, non barrel aged

Drinking my barrel aged Mayan. It's infected. Glad I only got a single I can't imagine having a case of this down the drain feel bad for those people.

I had an Almanac Truthful Statement and Bruery Blue BBL's last week, Ive really enjoyed sour bourbon barrel stouts so I was curious about Hipster and opened my last bottle tonight. I'm getting zero tart or sour flavors at all, medium to low carb, minimal head and the taste is good but the adjunct flavors have fallen off some. Still a great beer, I enjoyed it.

I don't get the tartness some people are going on about. I will say that I am getting a lot more sweetness. I want to say its part of the maple shining still, but there is a cherry note that is obvious. Again, sweet not tart. Not over carbed. I had to aggressively pour to get 1 finger.
Its not as good as fresh, but I wouldn't call it infected.

All these people? Who? A bunch of neckbearded hater trolls on a beer forum?
Not discounting the negative direction this vintage has taken, but infected?
I've asked about carb a few times and no one has indicated anything substantially off there. Thats another symptom of an infection that no one is making a "fuss" about.

White Labs offers testing. You can add bacteria and wild yeast tests.

You must be sitting on a lot of Hipster to get that riled up.
Chalk up another person with good bottles (that apparently have a "Cherry flavor") who's pissed at other people who have experienced bad bottles...

Yeah, I don't get the attitude of people that haven't had a bad bottle thinking that everyone else is crazy for having a bad bottle. My two bottles have been fine, but I know others have had bad ones...I'm not mad, I'm lucky! Or maybe I'm a neckbearded hater troll.

Usually they are but I bet he's cranky on the account of no Canadian teams making the NHL playoffs this season.

This made me chuckle... well played.

Just to confirm- I don't have a neckbeard so you're probably not talking to me but I cracked my last bottle last week and it was definitely infected. Pure sour tart bomb, not sweet. Like tart vinegar. This was may more than a "negative direction of a vintage." I honestly don't remember the carb situation though, I was most focused on the nose and taste.

I drank most of my bottles fresh a few months ago and they were fantastic. I was bummed this one was bad but I assume I'd be much more worked up if I was sitting on quantity at this point.
