Brewery celebrates the return of Tree Shaker, Imperial Peach IPA Fort Collins, CO. – On February 22nd, Odell Brewing will celebrate the return of Tree Shaker, an Imperial Peach IPA, brewed with over 3000 pounds of pureed peaches grown on the Western slope of Colorado. “Lightly sweet, dainty floral peach augments the beer’s brilliant grapefruit and orange hop flavors, creating an aroma and swallow that sing with orchard freshness,” said DRAFT Magazine, which included Tree Shakerin their “Top 25 Beers of 2013.” Tree Shaker was a hit in its inaugural year, and the Odell Brewing crew couldn't wait to brew it again. They began with a complex imperial IPA. Nine days into fermentation, the team spent all day adding the pureed peaches to the beer by hand. The final brew is crisp and flavorful with subtle peach notes that complement the bright citrus hop character. Tree Shaker will be available in 750 mL, cork and cage finished bottles throughout the brewery’s eleven state distribution region. The brewery will celebrate the release of Tree Shaker in the Tap Room on February 22nd and 23rd. Guests can enjoy samples of the beer, local food truck pairings, and live music by The Matt Skinner Skinner Band on Sunday from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Founded in 1989, Odell Brewing was started by Doug Odell, his wife Wynne, and his sister Corkie. Twenty-four years later, the culture of family and collaboration still thrives fostering a brewery full of beer-centric people. It is this passion for beer that inspires Odell Brewing to create quality, hand-crafted, innovative brews. Enjoyed this one last year, particularly on tap where I could get a decent pour at a reasonable price. I love almost everything Odell does, but sometimes the price can be a deterrent. Fortunately, plenty of local bars have deals or offer pours in such a way that their beers are a bit more accessible/affordable.
While it sounds like it would be in the mountains, the CO western slope is farmland that resembles the California coast more than ski resorts. It's known for peaches.
Odell is one of my favorite breweries and makes some of the best hoppy beers I've ever had - Myrcenary, IPA, St. Lupulin and Red are all world class beers in my mind. There is never a time where I don't have IPA or Myrcenary in my fridge. That being said, I do not think they executed this well at all last year. I felt there were numerous off flavors due to improper fermentation/temp. control/etc. - overly estery, slightly metallic, and just unclean yeast profile altogether. I drained poured two different bottles myself and tried it a few other times and never once truly enjoyed it. I love peaches and I love Odell's hopped up beers, but there was something wrong with this one in my opinion which was an extreme disappointment as I was more excited for it than almost any other beer I've had the opportunity to try. I hope they nail it this time around....
Just googled Fruita, CO bc i never heard of it. Population 12000. Nickname: "Home of Mike the Headless Chicken" nothing about fruit loops though.
