Does anyone know if Odell plans to regularly release seasonal mix 12 packs? I loved the Summer Montage Mixer!!
From my understanding they plan to do these year round with a rotation of "seasonal" beers. I could see them replacing the IPA with Cutthroat Porter and Loose Leaf with Isolation for the winter pack. Then the spring pack would get RED and possibly Levity/ Easy Street? IDK. I am just happy they finally bounced on the mixer 12 pack. The idea of test marketing new beers is quite smart though, so I would not be surprised to see new seasonal releases. Maybe a fall release soon?!?
I love the Montage pack and I know some have grumbled that they like it too but it's a bit pricey (18.99 plus tax) and it IS pricey but I think most of us love it when a quality craft brewer releases a variety pack. The St. Lupulin is just awesome and it's now maybe my new favorite pale ale and everything else is good too but please, just one new release / experimental beer per pack.
They have been talking about bringing back ESR as a 12oz for a while. Hopefully that one at least makes it into these Montage mixed packs.
90 Schilling and IPA will be year round. The other two will rotate with the seasons...Red/St Lupulin/Isolation for each appropriate season, and a rotating pilot release, Loose Leaf/?/?. I just want Loose Leaf available in six pack form. I won't buy another 12 pack when my focus is on 3 beers that can be downed in one sitting. I love all the beers offered in the Montage, but I never buy 12 beers at a time because I can never finish the beers before I get a craving for something else. Then I buy the other beers I am craving and beers start sitting in my fridge, and I am not a collecter/cellarer. I believe the next variation of the Montage comes out in September.
Extra Special Red. It was an imperial red that was bigger and more malt-focused than their spring seasonal Red. It might be my favorite Odell beer to date.
Thanks - This was one of the few mix packs where there wasn't one beer that just sat in the back of the beer fridge until someone else drinks it. The New Belgian mix pack has Fat Tire - the Boulevard mix pack has the Wheat Beer. . . You know the drill. Adding Red, Isolation or the Porter plus something else would be a great rotation. Now I am excited about the ESR possibilities.
