Oec opening its doors is nothing but a complete blessing for Ct. Being a huge fan of sour and off centered brewing I found every offering available even the smoked Grodziskie to be nothing less than spectacular. The real standout for me was Zymatore Isaac. This brewery is bringing something completely different to the beer scene in this state and its refreshing to know that this type of product is accessible without leaving ct and traveling to say Nightshift or Allagash.

My friends went to the opening and brought me back some of the Berliner and something else (the tag got ripped off). Both were fantastic. I think we are lucky to have an operation like this in CT. Also glad that there is now a go to, local Berliner available.

Looks like standard hours are going to be Saturdays 12-7, with after work hours on friday planned.

Also, it looks like there are a few new things to try soon (maybe this week?) Aeris: heavily hopped German lager (altbier? Dunno, their website calls it both an ale, and also lagered). Novo: dry hopped blended saison.

Those were two that sound really intriguing and I was hoping would be there last weekend, but alas no. Oh well, some day soon I will have to make the trip back over there.

This Saturday I'm told they'll have their first DONG (i.e. Draft Only, No Growlers), a barrel aged raspberry sour. I'm sure I'll see some of you there. Cheers!

The dong raspberry was awesome! Would have absolutely walked out with a couple 750's if it was available for fill!!!

Damn this was good, but after the full tasting flight, I had the worst sour beer indigestion in the world last night. Then again, it probably didn't help that I went to OEC directly from having Pepe's white clam pie with all those chunks of garlic

The OEC stuff I sampled a few weeks ago was amazing. Prolly never see it again down in my neck of the woods, however.

Made the trek up here today. Very nice place with quality and interesting beers. It's clear they did their research when designing an setting up the tasting room... Everything was run near perfectly.

I finally checked this place out this past weekend, and I was extremely impressed! Very cool place, cool people, and excellent beer. Sours seem to be catching on in the American craft beer scene lately so these guys will fill a niche in Connecticut for sure. Within a few months I have a feeling it'll be tough to get in their and get beer without waiting on a Saturday. Really, really good stuff.
