Agreed on both counts, but boy that Global Warmer was nice.

I think this guy is spot on. I experienced a similar thing as the OP and, needless to say, I was hugely disappointed, especially when it was a beer that I had before at premium conditions. I'm sure the good folks at this brewery would refund your purchase, at a minimum. They'll probably do you even one better.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are as concerned as you are here and would like to investigate further. If you could message me the code info on the bottom of the cans we can look into this in more detail. Thanks again.

Six point beers are pretty well distributed, I'm supposing a few bugs may have aged in that beer. Age isn't your friend in most cases, you didn't mention the canning date if it was known.

Sounds like butyric acid, which is a common brewing flaw and the same chemical that gives vomit its distinctive smell. Odor detection threshold is much lower than it's taste threshold. A couple months ago I detected butyric acid aroma in a Hill Farmstead beer, but it tasted fine.

I'm pretty sure it was butryic acid. That fits the description exactly.

It was a month before the best by date when I bought it. Not quite as fresh as I prefer, but not old or bad by any means, either. Also, I really want to emphasize that I don't want to shit on Sixpoint here. They're a stellar brewery. I've bought from them dozens of times, and only twice have I ever noticed something off. 99% of the time all of their beers are fantastic.
