I really can't say for the Torpedo but the Lot #3 had a best by date of June 2012

Oxydation of the beer can also give it a "leathery" or "papery" taste. This could be what you are tasting, a slightly oxydized beer.

I loved Stone's Green Tea IPA...yum yum yum.

I have dryhopped beer in the keg that had a lemon tea like flavor - I always attributed it to not so fresh hops after using some old hallertauer's in a beer once. Recently experienced the same flavor in a barleywine (chinook and centennial dry hop) I just put in a keg - took a good 10 days for all the hop debris to settle out - and along with it went the lemon tea flavor too.

Probably my favorite Stone collab to date.

I just had a Boulevard Double Wide DIPA last night and I definitely perceived a tea flavor. For me it was more of a rounded, earthy bitterness that helped integrate the bright hops and the malt character. I liked it and thought it enhanced the overall flavor of the beer. I also got a strong tea flavor from an '08 Hibernation that was part of a vertical recently. Again, I tasted black tea as a rounded, earthy bitterness that helped to integrate the beer overall. I really liked that one too.

my favorite beer last year. would be the perfect spring / summer seasonal. i also used to get tea like flavor in br hop rod rye and sierra bigfoot last year, dont notice it in this years batches. 2011 weyerbacher harvest ale was predominantly tea flavored.
