I'm sorry, but this post is close to unintelligible.

Are you saying you're the person the OP is referring to?

I think it somewhat depends on what it is...I pretrade some growlers because I don't want to get them filled until right before I send them out for freshness purposes. There is a chance they won't be on when I go to get them filled but maybe that's an assumed chance when trading for most growlers?

I would think so, especially if it's agreed upon in advance, seems Reasonable to me. Its an easy exception to the rule, and growler guy ships first so he can get it out on his schedule and ship it right. As long as both parties agree on most anything it's ok.

I've done it but was clear that this was the case. For example offering NG Fruits when all 4 are readily available. I'm not going to buy a slew of $10 beers I won't drink on the off chance someone wants to trade for them, but knowing I can get all 4 I'm comfortable offering them up (while being clear that there's a slight chance I could be SOL @ the store).

I think in the case of something that's fairly common, AND you're clear that this is a pre-purchase offering, the other party is entering the trade knowing full well that there's a chance you may come up empty handed. IMHO, this is not the same as working out a trade and -then- saying "oh, btw, I don't have them in hand yet."

    You would be incorrect sir.

Don't forget the part where he has a new baby and can't spell right.

The spelling is solid; it's the punctuation and syntax that's suspect. Can't comment on the baby.

Haha for sure. I was joking with @TheVicster because I got a similar pm from him where he told me he couldn't spell correctly because he was a new dad and didn't have time. Guy might be a nutjob.
Shot out to @DIPAFAN for alerting me that babinichole is no schtick and in fact just may be nuts. Saved me a potential bad trade.
What happened with him again dude?

Unless someone is not a native to the English language, garbled, incomprehensible communication is a huge red flag for me (I'm thinking of you once again, jojo).

Generally, I try to only offer beers when I have multiples. I like to hold onto at least one so that I can replace if something happens to the bottle "in transit".

When doing a pre trade always use some type of disclaimer if anything happened. Something along the lines of

This is a pre trade and nothing is certain until I recieve the bottles. Once I recieve them I will give you final confirmation and we will accept each others trade request. If this is ok with you please confirm. Thank you.

then both parties knowingly get into a pre trade, so if anything does happen you both agreed to the terms.

I have made this mistake and got lucky finding the ISO bottles...only to have Fedex lose it en route. I agree that I will always preface a reply with "pre" or "I need to get the bottles". Great lesson! Luckily I had a trader who was really patient! Thanks @black13 .
