I popped my FOBAB cherry last night. I went from Fobab virgin straight to a Fobab *****. What an awesome time. My highlights of the night were BA 9000, Straight Jacket, Black Note, Afternoon Delight, and Pappy Van Muckle. I think my palate was almost shot by the time I had Humidor and BA Behemoth, so unfairly to both neither really agreed well with me at the time.

I know there were a lot of complaints of the venue, but I really liked it. Minus the heat and the group of people who got stuck in the elevator for an hour, the view of the skyline was badass and it was a pretty cool loft. Lots of cool people in attendance and there were no lines also should be mentioned.

    Highlights:
Perennial Blueberry/Raspberry Flanders (even better than GTOM, had 4 pours)
    Bear Republic Tartare (4 pours)
    Cherry Rye BCS
    Wine Barrel BCS
    Raspberry Wild One
    Hansel & Gretal

    Lowlights:
Every Destihl sour (all acetic as shit)
BA Behemoth (what was this beer? Because it definitely wasnt the one I had out of the bottle)
Every BCS besides the cherry rye and wine barrel (no real difference between any of them)
Cuvee de Bubba (how did this win runner up? A far better beer was right next to it)
Whatever Lost Abbey Track beers I had. Didnt think any of them were all that good.

I totally agree about Goose Island Thanksgiving. I thought it was really good!

Also enjoyed the Cigar City Humidor Peach IPA, Cherry Oak Abduction and Sex Syrup.

Disappointments for me: Bell's BA Cherry Stout, Fertile Crescent, this batch of Dosvidanya.

Agreed on Lost Abbey, but Bubba was really good to me. What next to it did you like more, Tartare?

Also, the raspberry really dominated the blueberry in the Perennial Flanders, but it was excellent just like cask at Great Taste.

Really impressed with Lost Abbey's Track 10, Barrel Aged Abraxus, and Black Note. Also, Cigar City's Humidor Peach IPA was a refreshing change of pace. Cherry Rye was great, though I like Bramble Rye a little better.. Had high hopes for barrel aged Ten FIDY but that one was a little underwhelming, as was BA Behemoth. Overall, a great experience and the most ridiculously awesome beer list I've ever seen.

    Cheers!

Negate apricot dekera.... i meant the apricot saison, my wife who was more sober then I told me I didn't get a dekkera.

Also second the comment(s) about the Peach IPA, my partner got it and I was bitching at her for getting a damn IPA at FOBAB only after trying it to give the required.......my bad.

Stuff I liked most: Smaug's Breath (better than BA Abraxas), TRack 9 and 10, BA 9000, Wild ONe, Uncle Jacobs, blueberry perennial, lakefront peach lambic, cherry oak abduction. And afterwards the FW16 was good at Mariahs.

Mayan Gold was my best of show, Jared always kills it at FOBAB. BA Abraxas, BA 9000, Whiskey Ten Fidy, and Tartare were also standouts. Didn't have a bad beer all night and had several great ones. Greatest. Event. Ever.

Any idea why FW XVI wasn't available at FOBAB? I figured they had to have it ready to go by now.

My only real complaint was being stuck on one of the freight elevator's for about an hour at the start of the first session while we could hear everyone else enjoying barrel aged goodness 3.5 floors above us. Hopefully the organizers reach out to all of us that were stuck like they said they would, as we missed out on several beers that kicked before climbing out of the elevator. Obviously not their fault, but it was quite unfortunate. Although it was a lot cooler on the elevator than it was in the loft before they opened the windows up. Otherwise it was a great venue and great event. Looking forward to next year.

vip badge access would have been dope in between the sessions and then maybe dibs on 2 or 3 options that did tap from the first session that would be available for the next session and a kind GTFO.

Great event! Was at the night session. Highlights for me:

-Getting hit on by a drunk 40 something year old woman. Got her number and she was definitely DTF. However, by the end of the session I was definitely in no condition to try and put on any kind of sexual performance
-Getting a ton of pours without having to use any tix (didn't buy any xtra and still left with about 10 in my pocket at the end of the night)
    -Didn't lose anything
-Talking to a bunch of cool people that I won't remember their names or the conversations we had.

O yea and the beer list was outstanding! Can't forget the beer.

Agree with all the comments about this being such an awesome beer event! Really glad I got to try King Henry for the first time. My personal favorite of the day. Also really enjoyed the wine barrel BCS, B9k, Abraxus & Pappy Van Muckle. As a side note, did anyone else catch in their program or get told by the server that the Firestone Walker Rufus spent a whopping 5 years in the barrel?? Super smooth. Can't wait till next year!

BTW, I am not sure who is spreading the rumor that there was vanilla abraxus at the afternoon session but they are wrong. Perennial brought two beers. Blueberry Flanders, which is not any form of abraxus, and barrel aged abraxus, which is again distinct from abraxus. Vanilla abraxus was on tap at fountain head the night before FOBAB and at small bar today

Once again had an awesome time at FoBAB. Aesthetically I really dug the new venue, but logistically there were some things I didn't like - nothing so crazy to make me reconsider attending again in the future though.

There were MANY great beers, but here are some highlights for me:
    • Haymarket Clare's Thirsty Ale (Bourbon Barrel Aged Raspberry Imperial Stout)
    • Perennial Blueberry Flanders
    • Perennial BA Abraxas
    • Firestone-Walker Lil' Opal
    • Cigar City Humidor Peach IPA
    • Goose Island Apple Brandy BCS
    • Goose Island Fertile Crescent
    • Goose Island Mayan Gold
    • Goose Island Thanksgiving
    • Goose Island Hansel & Gretel
    • Bear Republic Tartare
    • Lost Abbey Track 10
