Any hunches that Goose Island Madame Rose will be poured? Only asking because I've passed up buying a $20 bottle on two occasions now.

This was because of an error with the checkout process at BPT. Your barcode on the ticket is for a specific time (the time you purchased the tickets for) and will not be usable for the alternative session. If you do not remember, you can call BPT to figure it out I do believe.

MarcatGSB - hey saw your post about Gilgamesh, I was in Ohio this sommer and a guy at a bottle shop brought this out and offered it to me. I had only heard the name, and so bought it. Don't really like sours, more of a big stout guy, interested in a FOBAB trade, I'll be there early set .

    I have my doubts.

Typically Goose Island (both Clybourn and Fulton) bring out some of their best / newest offerings to show off to the home town crowd. While Madame Rose is great, now that it is bottled and available, I would be surprised if it was taking up one of the valuable spots in the lineup.

    Cheers!

This. If for some reason Mdm Rose does make an appearance, it will be a special version, like the Jasmine Green Tea Juliet that was brought out for Belgianfest this year.

Agree. Wrigleyville won Best of Show with Honey B, AND took second in the Barleywine/Wheatwine category with Broadshoulders...both were delicious, but I personally thought King Henry was better, that day.

I just wanted to clarify myself here.

Breweries can only enter 4 beers in competition. They can serve as many as they want on the floor.

With that said, it's not cost effective for a lot of breweries to serve additional beers that aren't entered, especially with the upped requirement of 10 gallons for the floor.

Breweries with multiple locations (Destihl, Goose Island Brewpubs, Rock Bottoms) can essentially double the amount of beers they can enter in competition.

Thanks for the clarification here - I was a bit confused reading Laffler's tweets last night [heavily sic'd] - can anyone help decipher the meaning of these?

Tweet #1: 'It was one could bring 4 beers to FOBAB for judging bt unlimited floor beers. Got a lot of beers to show off...I don't like the new system'

Tweet #2: 'Funny thing, even w doubling the volume needed for entry we're bring less beer through normal channels overall'

So for Tweet #1, I'm reading that he appears to not be very happy that he can't enter more beers to be judged(?), and I don't understand Tweet #2.

It seems to indicate the new rules (You must bring 10 Gals, not 5 Gals of every beer coupled with being limited to 4 entries per brewery in the actual competition) has forced Goose to bring less beers/entries.. therefore, even with double the amount of beer per beer they are bringing, they are bringing less total beer volume to the festival than last year (IE - They are not entering many if any beers beyond their 4 judged beers).

Just for reference (Since this got me interested in looking back).. Goose Island Fulton brought 11 beers last year (for some reason, this program is still in my desk at work).. maybe 10 if you consider Heartwood a collective effort. (11x5 Gal)

You'd have to assume this means Goose is bringing 4-5 beers this year (4 or 5 x 10)..

4 entries.. maybe 1 extra beer for the floor..

Thanks for the clarification - that's great info!

It seems like the new rules have made it such that the extensive selection that Goose Island brought last year won't be repeated in 2012. That's very disappointing - the offerings they had in 2011 were spectacular!
