Hopefully this is not a repost. I apologize if it is but I didn't see another Founders thread on the 1st 5 pages.

Yes, we all know the rumors and confirmation of talks with distributors but wouldn't it be nice to get some Doom! I am posting this because the release date coincides the target month of April.

"Doom will be released in limited quantities across Founders’ distribution footprint beginning on Monday, April 22, and will be available at the brewery’s taproom through a ticketed release during the week of April 14. The brewery expects to release two more Backstage Series beers in 2013."

Yes, KBS would be ideal but it will be on it's tail end unless, they hold back some till they arrive in Tx.

I noticed the 1st one but not the 2nd, yet I knew it was there. I must of skipped over it. Just trying to avoid the future clutter of Founders threads that are sure to appear in the months to come.

I completely understand. I'm sure we will soon be bombarded with Founders information and it would be good to have one spot to find everything like JK and some others have. I was just answering your statement about "Hopefully this isn't a repost".

I kinda feel bad for my Midwestern trade partner, whose been making a living off of trading me GI and Founders stuff. Guess he'll have to expand out. :)

Oh no, never. I meant he's going to have to expand to include more MW offerings, since I won't need him to send me those 2 any more. :)

Good to see that Texas is solid red. Not like some other breweries that will be here soon (starts with F and ends in irestone Walker). Their Texas would be all splotchy.

Do we know for sure that the entire state, other than west Texas beer wasteland, will be getting Founders? And Spec's tweeted today that FW will hit Houston in the 3rd quarter this year.

I won't lie - I've just been keeping tabs on if Houston is gonna get it. I'm betting we'll see Founder's in better grocery stores all over the state right along side all of our current craft options.

Do they really age well though? - My 2012's were tasting pretty flat after New Years but then again....back home I drank them ASAP so I'm used to them fresh. Even Great Lakes says not to hold on to them because the spices really fall off after a month or so IIRC

Good to see that the beer heads in Texas know what Great Lakes is :)

The spices do fall off. I'm just tired of spiced beer and probably will not be getting around to them until next season. I've got me a ST and GLBC hook up up north. And to keep the thread on track, he was my Founders hook up as well.

Saw this and figured the timing was probably intentional. Looks like we're going to have to wait another year for a crack at some KBS locally....

I hope they do it up like Firestone Walker, since I was able to get some Sucaba on tap, and others were able to get a hold of the Sucaba/Parabola/Anniversary bottles.

  31. lokieman

All 6 of them in Austin...was a little ticked that a brewery the size of FW and with the production that they have they could only spare 6 bottles for the entire capitol of TX. Unless I was misinformed of course...

  32. Lutter

    Lutter Jun 30, 2010 Texas

Yeah... 1 case of Anniversary (6 bottles). 2 cases of Parabola (24 bottles), 6 cases of Sucaba (72 bottles) is what I counted on my FW expedition. :)

Ahhh... BEK is handing Founders. Means Houston won't see shit until forever after other towns and will get smaller portions of limited releases.

I guess it's great we are getting it, but as a Houstonian don't expect anything remotely limited to be easy to find.
