According to Facebook post today, BB (Bishop's Barrel) will be bottled next week.
After more google and looking at the label, the label has 12oz. printed on it.
Bishop's Barrel No. 1 will be released early next month. There is a small amount and it will be available in a few pubs and restaurants only.
Hunting will be an understatement. Any bar that advertises a tapping will be trampled down worse than Wal-Mart on Black Friday.
I got to see the barrel room yesterday. Smells so good in there. And it sounds like the plan for this is still on premise only.
Yeah. It will be in bottles only though. I'm doubting I'm even gonna go after this one.
So far, that's what it looks like. Only approved for kegs.
Yes! another SA hype thread!
Why not. Wouldn't want Pumpkinator to get locked because of talk about something else. lulz
Actually it will only be bottles, but only for on premise because of the very small amount.
This was in an e-mail yesterday from Brock Wagner.
starkmarvelo is correct. 100% will be bottled. I can't stress how small this batch is. Only 60bbls. Pumpkinator and DR12 were 480 bbls.
DAMN! Talk about a micro batch.
Now the question is what pubs will sell it? Is it leaving Houston? And who is willing to pick up a bottle for me? Just one.
If it's on-premesis only... it can't leave the premesis. They're gonna pop the top and you've gotta drink it there.
Obvious choices are Saucer, Petrol and G-man.
This could taste like dishwater and people proclaim that its better than Jesus. Hype machine overload!
FT: Bishop's Barrel ISO: Shroud of Turin
In search of Holy Grail.
BB drank from the Holy Grail = ultimate drinking experience!
Looks like I got my work cut out for me... so when we say on premise we talking a bar or brewery?
They are talking about Bars. They cannot sell their product at the brewery.
No - I know they can't sell at the brewery but, I was thinking like it'll be like a "Tour Only" brew or something
I see what you are asking. I believe starkmarvelo said that he got an email from Brock saying Bars and Restaurants.
...anybody know the top 5 accounts? I'm guessing they are also the same 5 that have been serving SA since 1994?
Maybe Star pizza will get some since they been supporting them for a while.
I'll get a growler of that!
I can guarantee that you won't.
I don't believe you can unless you are going to open the bottles to pour them into your growler. Then drink it from your growler at the bar. Bottles only, on-premise.
Hopefully the batches to follow will be bigger. If its a success.
Sadly, I think they are ALL are going to like this... I hope and pray I'm wrong though.
They will probably all be this small unless they are a great success and SA builds a larger, much larger, barrel room.
Dude, It never fails lol Houston x SA x "Limited" = Pandemonium!!!!!!
Yup, I'll probably make no chance to rush out and try it or
I'll ask him nov 5 when I see Brock.
You forgot to multiply Sailing Santa to a factor of fail.
I love that SA is going in the right direction with a more interesting porfolio but I am quickly getting fatigued here in Houston with these Willy Wonka golden ticket hunts. Between DR, Pumpkinator, and now what Karbach is doing, I just don't have enough comp time to be chasing down twitter threads to find a couple bottles. 60bbls? What is next? 10 bottles hidden around the city? The whole concept ups the ante for quality which is a plus but having quarterly (or even more frequent than that) one offs that can't even come close to meeting the demand (and grossly increases it in the process) is borderline irresponsible towards the customers interests. I love Endeavor but I have to sift through 3 month old bottles to find a fresh one. If SA never made it a regular and told us on this forum that DR11 was going into a limited re-release, people would be taking sick days to snatc up cases upon cases again. The whole limited quantity concept breeds hype which some how makes beer taste better topic is an old and tired one so I will leave it at that.
So with my whining out of the way, see you all on Bishop release day!
If anyone is wondering what bars are going to get this, I think I can give you a hint on one. The name of the bar is one of JP Donleavy's books.
I completely agree with sweetbooze. The only reason i chased after pumpkinator was cause Ive had it and wanted more. All these other one off "limited" brewery releases are obnoxious.
I gambled on Pumpkinator this year. Luckily it was good. But I see your point and must agree. It can get a tad bit ridiculous.
Wow, i must be a lightweight. Ive only been here 3 years and im already done with searching and hunting for these beers.
Not saying i dont want them, but it does get bothersome having to hunt this blindly.
That said, its good to see so much enthusiasm from locals and some cool beers hitting stores and bars.
