I'm not complaining, nor bitching. Just having a conversation of what I would prefer to see for distro and giving my reasons behind it. that's all. It's not my business, SA can run it how they want.

I agree with you. I know where to get it if I want it. And I agree, $8 is a reasonable price... Post BB3 I've learned where to get it for that. It's the >$12 a bottle thing that galled me a little at the start, but it's not all establishments and it's their prerogative to price it what they want. I've been in and out of those places since and left the beer there for people who are willing to pony up.

Personally, I like being able to just go into a bar/restaurant in DFW and have one of these. Every couple weeks, if I want a BB4, I can go to a few different bars by my place and it's still there waiting for me. I would rather do this than deal with the lines everywhere else just so that I can maybe get 1 to drink at home.

I wasn't directing anything at you personally, apologies if you took it that way, just some thoughts.

Your argument relating St A's numbers to Karbachs numbers is like comparing apples and oranges and is also ridiculous. For one, Karbach doesn't have near the fan base St A's does yet (not trying to start an argument about that but its true). Also, Karbach has no problem selling the FUN series with smaller batch numbers because as far as I know that is a Houston only release whereas St A's distributes to the rest of the state. I'm not sure if BB goes to LA or CO.

If St A's released it in singles or 2 packs with limits on it that would change nothing. The retailers will sell it however they want and for whatever price. I also understand your frusturation of not being able to drink the beer how you like so why even bring up kegging it? You would still haev to drink it there. Also, how can you say they are "teasing" you with how hard it is to get a bottle yet you say "its still sitting in many establishments in the cooler"? That doesn't sound too hard to get to me.

I understand your issue of price hikes but again that would happen no matter how it was released and will happen no matter what. I'm sorry the establishment you went to didn't serve the beer in a proper glass. That happens to me almost everywhere, send it back or deal with it. That has nothing to do with St A's. I'm also sorry you don't like to drink high abv beers when your out but, again, that is no fault of St A's.I also think there are at least a few places that will allow you to take it home whether they are supposed to or not.

I think the kegging may have some valid points but

a.) I'm not sure but even if they put it in slim kegs, I think they may have less beer to distribute to these accounts as compared to giving an account a case or two. This would make it even harder to track down which would result in more disgruntled BA's

b.) if they kegged it then there would be 0% chance of getting any bottles to go which would also result in more disgruntled BA's

Not directing this at you but overall this isn't that big of a deal. Plain and simple, if you don't like the price don't buy it. If you don't like the beer don't buy it. If you don't want to have to drive to a restaurant and buy food don't buy it. There are brweries all over the country that release beers in several different ways, this is no different and there is no perfect solution.

Ditto, there is a place within walking distance of me that I can still get 2, 3 and 4. Fortunately, they have it reasonably priced. I'm just happy I didn't have to drive all over DFW for one or two bottles (maybe) which is what would happen if they released it everywhere.

BB is only sold to select bars and restaurants that Saint Arnold chooses them to go to. They do this to get people into local places to check out places they might not normally go or know about.

As for the pricing that's on the manager of the place. Some places are out to make a good profit, others are just into to build up business and word of mouth.

I think that's why Petrol held off on their release till 7 Tuesday instead of Monday. To get us in there and buy some food/drinks before releasing it because alot of people just grab and go.

None taken. I like intelligent debate.

To pull out a famous movie discussion.... Comparing apples and oranges is not ridiculous. The two items have a lot of things in common: their both fruit, they both grow on trees, they have seeds, if you exchanged one for the other in my lunch I'd probably never know the difference..... Now apples and doorstops, comparing those is ridiculous.

In much the same fashion, comparing SA to Karbach isn't all that ridiculous. I had a lot easier time tracking down the last DR release than I did FUN 005 or 006. The scale between the two breweries is slightly different, but I don't think its "ridiculous" to compare them as they are both breweries doing barrel aged releases....

Should have clarified here - the places where it's sitting in coolers don't allow "to go" bottles... despite my polite words to the bartenders and generous tips....

agreed. I just want to buy it and take it home rather than purchasing the cheapest thing on the menu I could buy in order to be allowed to purchase the beer. Sorry to Star Pizza, but I'm just not a fan... every time i've had it the pizza has either turned out terrible or the service was so poor I just wanted to leave without eating... but that's a personal experience....

Agreed on all points. However... I would like to say that normally I'm not one who cares about what kind of vessel you serve me my beer in... but when you charge $12 and clearly have no understanding of beer or the culture of people who normally drink it, I get a little perturbed at why I am sitting in your establishment drinking it in the first place. That's all I was trying to relay. Maybe I need to self evaluate more here than place blame on the bar...

Agreed, and that's what I do. I just thought i'd actually try and seek out a couple of bottles of this project to try at home, in ideal conditions, and see if I feel any better about it. Relaying my thoughts as I know employees and other supporters float around this forum to get feedback.

whoa... i've spent a bunch of time on this debate today. If you'll excuse me, I need to do some work.

I don't agree with most of the points you've raised in this thread, but this one is dead on. Star Pizza is not very good pizza.

But even though that's true, it's still pretty high on the list of pizzas in Houston. We have a sad, sad pizza scene here.

Last time(the only time) I went the pizza was doughy, and all the toppings slid off. Even the last few pieces that were left. Wasn't a fan, though the Beer list was exceptional for a pizza joint.

My favorite thing about Luigi's (other than being walking distance) is that it's BYOB so the beer list is whatever I decide

Luigi's makes a damn good pizza too, IMO. Especially for Houston.

It's on Almeda at Alabama near HCC. They do deliver, but not sure what the minimum might be. I used to live a few blocks away so I always picked it up.

But uh yeah, if you're looking for BB5 I think D&T still has some. I picked up two earlier tonight.

I'm going to JK this Saturday (stoked on AR and OP still being available!) and if Stanley's has BB5 I can pick up bottles for people. They had a case of BB4 to-go out there last Saturday, I went home with two.
If people are interested, BM me.
    I probably can't buy a whole case or four a la @mattchow #1 #goandpickitupformebro

Someone already knocked this one out. I don't mind a reminder of this sweetness! I presume this is the rum barrel aged version. Though it doesn't specify

Since this thread keeps repeating itself for the 5th time, I guess I will repeat what I have said. I really like how they do these releases. I just had another at Cottonwood and I did not have to wait in line. Guess what, it will be there for a while so I can enjoy it when I feel like it. If all you want is to have it at home, sorry you have to wait in line. With the amout of these that are released, stores would be so overwhelmed people would be bitching about that. Ok I guess I will post the same thing after BB6
