i was a couple of people behind you in line and i will say that your son was very well behaved. however, that group of 3 or 4 kids running around and screaming over to the west side of the backyard were driving me up the fucking wall.

Ill say I Know that the case cost but i wont post cause more bitching, over heard the person saying when I got mine that- that's how much they paid for the case. Im glad I was able to walk in and but my bottles no problem, sucks that Star Pizza had people but a pizza to get them but it cuts down hoarding and helps their business, makes sure that people won't just stop in for the beer and never return.

Also for those bitching about sailing Santa and the Christmas Ale, ill be you'll be out there buying the Barrel Aged Christmas Ale SA is releasing soon.

I haven't seen any bitching about Christmas Ale, I would argue that Christmas Ale is one of their better offerings.

Picked up 2 bottles and a pizza at Star Pizza on the way home from work. Planned on picking up dinner for election night anyway.

No chance of having some at both, huh? Just because of the style, its something that would be fun to have some of now and to age to see how it develops.

Thanks for continuing to bring great beer to Round Rock! You keep me from driving to Austin a LOT more!

I'm guessing it'll be at least $10 at Homefield. I think I remember DR11 was $8 or $9 and the Real Ale Morgul was $12 for a snifter.

HEY GUESS WHAT?! I FOUND IT GUYS! I FOUND THAT BASTARD!

Went to the Big Red **** (BRC Gastropub) with the GF and they had 2 left... We split one on the spot and took the other one home.

    Happy Days!

On a side note though, the beer was very boozy. Had a rummy flavor to it that made it interesting. It was good for what it was but I wish there was more stout in that flavor. Luckily however I feel this will age beautifully!

After cracking one, I'd say you will be fine if you do't get any.

it's way way way too thin. Not even ad thick as a porter. It makes the carbonation prickly and a bit offputting. The flavor is solid, but mostly vanilla forward from the barrel. Not much chocolate and nodetectable coffee or roastiness. Its a decent first run at a barrel aged beer, but they need to work on the base stout a bit more.

I may sound a bit harsh, but in truth, its not a bad beer, it just needs some work. I look forward to future attempts.

Had a couple last night at Luke's in Beaumont. The aroma was amazing and the taste was great. Very barrel forward, great bourbon and vanilla notes. I will say that the only flaw I thought it had was the body. It is a very thin beer and slightly over carbed but not enough to be off putting. I actually thought that it was very easy drinking for the abv and hid the alcohol well. Really glad I got to have some.

I think with time they could make this a great beer. Not sure if they will revisit it though.

I feel like it's like a KBS if the base beer wasn't up to par.

I hope time is nice to this. I'll probably put one in deep storage for some time. The other I will probably donate to a friend who didn't get to have any.

I think they could too. I thought they nailed everything from the barrel aspect. I don't think that they accounted for it thinning out the body of the base beer though. I hope that they do revisit this one with a more stout/robust base beer.

I also heard about the true cost of this per case, The owner of Hay Merchant spilled the beans about it as well - That's why I'm not hunting it anymore and I be damned if I'm forking over $10+ a bottle for it lol

    B,b,b,b,b,b,barrel Aged CHRISTMAS ALE?!?

I also like how SA ships 6 bottles to a location and tweets that its actually AT this location. No it isn't. If you're going to have a joke of a shipment, don't pretend like the bartender and his buddies aren't going to drink the lot within 10 mins of the six pack arriving there. That's pretty lame.

I didn't see or hear of any place getting less than a case.
